5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Loading the Hand Truck

  1. Place the item to be transported onto the shovel.
  2. Ensure the weight is centered and stable. For tall or unstable items, consider using bungee cords or straps through the designated holes on the shovel to secure the load to the frame.
  3. Tilt the hand truck backward slightly to balance the load on the wheels.

5.2 Moving on Flat Surfaces

With the load balanced, push or pull the hand truck using the handles. Maintain a comfortable posture and use your legs, not your back, to initiate movement.

5.3 Climbing Stairs

  1. Ascending Stairs:
    • Position the hand truck at the base of the stairs with the load facing upwards.
    • Tilt the hand truck back until the bottom set of 3-star wheels makes contact with the first step.
    • Slowly pull the hand truck upwards, allowing the star wheels to rotate and "climb" each step. Maintain a steady pace and firm grip.
    • Use your body weight to assist in pulling, keeping your back straight.
  2. Descending Stairs:
    • Position the hand truck at the top of the stairs with the load facing downwards.
    • Carefully push the hand truck forward, allowing the bottom set of 3-star wheels to roll down the first step.
    • Control the descent by maintaining a firm grip and guiding the hand truck slowly down each step. Do not let it free-fall.
    • Keep a safe distance from the hand truck to avoid being struck by the load.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your hand truck:

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the frame and shovel with a damp cloth after use to remove dirt and debris. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • Lubrication: Periodically check the wheel axles and moving parts for smooth operation. Apply a small amount of general-purpose lubricant if necessary.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the frame for any signs of bending, cracks, or corrosion. Check the wheels for wear and tear, and ensure they rotate freely. Verify that all fasteners (bolts, nuts) are tight.
  • Storage: Store the hand truck in a dry environment to prevent rust and damage. Utilize its foldable feature for compact storage.
