1. Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Timex Essex Avenue Day-Date 44mm Quartz Watch. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper use and care of your timepiece.
2. Watch Components

- Crown: Used for setting time and date. Located on the right side of the watch case.
- Hour, Minute, Second Hands: Indicate the current time.
- Day Subdial: Displays the current day of the week.
- Date Subdial: Displays the current date.
- 24-Hour Subdial: Indicates time in a 24-hour format.
- Bracelet: Metal link bracelet for securing the watch to the wrist.
3. Setup and Initial Adjustment
3.1 Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown in either direction to move the hour and minute hands until the desired time is set. Ensure the 24-hour subdial aligns correctly for AM/PM.
- Push the crown back in to the normal position. The second hand will resume movement.
3.2 Setting the Day and Date
- Pull the crown out to the first click position.
- Rotate the crown clockwise to adjust the date on the date subdial.
- Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the day on the day subdial.
- Once the correct day and date are set, push the crown back in to the normal position.
Note: Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this may interfere with the automatic date change mechanism. If adjustment is needed during this period, first set the time outside this range, adjust the date, then reset the time.
3.3 Bracelet Adjustment

Figure 2: Rear view of the Timex Essex Avenue watch, showing the metal bracelet and clasp mechanism. The clasp features the Timex logo.
The metal link bracelet may require adjustment for a comfortable fit. This typically involves removing or adding links. It is recommended to have this procedure performed by a qualified jeweler or watch technician to prevent damage to the bracelet or clasp.
4. Operating Your Watch
4.1 Water Resistance

Figure 3: Close-up of the watch's case back, indicating "WR 50M" for water resistance up to 50 meters. Other engravings include "WATCHMAKERS EST. 1854" and "THE ESSEX AVENUE COLLECTION".
Your Timex Essex Avenue watch is water resistant up to 50 meters (5 ATM). This rating means the watch is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, showering, or general water splashes. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.
5. Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, followed by drying thoroughly.
- Avoid Chemicals: Do not expose your watch to solvents, detergents, perfumes, or cosmetics, as these can damage the case, gasket, or bracelet.
- Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (hot or cold) or sudden temperature changes, which can affect its accuracy and water resistance.
- Battery Replacement: When the watch battery needs replacement, it is recommended to have it done by an authorized Timex service center or a professional watchmaker to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store your watch in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and strong magnetic fields.
