  • Plasma Cutter Torch x 1
  • Gas Pipe (3M) x 1
  • Hose Hoop x 2
  • Electrode x 10
  • Nozzle Shield x 10
  • Hose Barb x 2
  • Oil-water Separator x 1
  • 110/220V Plug Converter x 1

5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your plasma cutter:

  1. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to a suitable 110V or 220V power outlet. Ensure the correct voltage is selected on the machine if applicable, or use the provided converter.
  2. Air Compressor Connection: Connect an air compressor to the machine's air inlet. An air compressor with a minimum capacity of 800W and 50L is recommended for optimal performance.
  3. Recommended air compressor setup for plasma cutter

Figure 5.1: Illustration of the recommended air compressor setup, emphasizing the need for an 800W, 50L compressor for efficient cutting.

  4. Oil-Water Separator Installation: Install the oil-water separator to the air inlet to ensure clean, dry air supply to the plasma cutter. This prevents moisture from affecting cutting performance and damaging internal components.
  5. Air regulator and oil-water separator connections

Figure 5.2: Close-up view of the air regulator and oil-water separator connections, showing the proper attachment points for the air hose.

  6. Torch and Ground Clamp Connection: Connect the plasma torch and ground clamp to their respective terminals on the front panel of the machine. Ensure connections are secure.
  7. Rear panel connections of the plasma cutter

Figure 5.3: Detailed view of the rear panel connections, indicating where the power cable, air input, and other accessories connect.

6. Operating Instructions

Before operating, ensure all safety precautions are followed.

  1. Power On: Turn on the main power switch located on the machine.
  2. Set Current: Adjust the cutting current (Amperage) using the control knob on the front panel. The appropriate current depends on the material type and thickness. Refer to the cutting chart (if provided separately) for recommendations.
  3. Prepare Workpiece: Ensure the workpiece is clean and free of excessive rust or paint. Secure the ground clamp firmly to the workpiece, ensuring good electrical contact.
  4. Initiate Arc: Position the plasma torch approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3-6mm) above the starting point of the cut. Press the torch trigger to initiate the pilot arc. The non-touch pilot arc will establish without needing to contact the metal.
  5. Begin Cutting: Once the pilot arc is established, slowly move the torch along the desired cutting line. Maintain a consistent speed and standoff distance for a clean cut.
  6. Monitor Cut Quality: Observe the molten metal and sparks. A proper cut will have a narrow kerf and minimal dross. Adjust cutting speed or current as needed.
  7. Types of Materials: The CUT-50 DS is capable of cutting various metals, including angle steel, mild steel, sheet metal, and stainless steel.
Examples of plasma cut metals

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your plasma cutter.

  • Consumable Replacement: Regularly inspect and replace worn electrodes and nozzles. Worn consumables can lead to poor cut quality and reduced efficiency.
  • Air Filter/Separator: Periodically drain any accumulated moisture from the oil-water separator. Clean or replace the filter element as needed to ensure a clean air supply.
  • Cleaning: Keep the machine clean and free of dust and metal particles. Use compressed air to blow out internal components periodically, ensuring the machine is unplugged first.
  • Cable Inspection: Inspect all cables and connections for signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace damaged cables immediately.

8. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
