5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Open the compartment cover.
- Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
5.2 Sensor Pin Installation/Replacement
- Remove the protective cap from the sensor pins.
- If replacing pins, use the small wrench provided to unscrew the existing pins.
- Carefully screw in the new sensor pins until secure.
- Always replace the protective cap when the meter is not in use to prevent damage to the pins and injury.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Power On/Off
Press and hold the MODE/Power button for approximately 2 seconds to turn the device on or off.
6.2 Mode Selection (Wood / Building)
After powering on, short press the MODE/Power button to toggle between Wood mode and Building material mode. The selected mode will be indicated on the LCD display.
Note: For composite wood materials, it is recommended to select Building mode for more reliable readings.
6.3 Wood Type Selection (A-H)
When in Wood mode, short press the Triangle button to cycle through the 8 different wood species groups (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). Select the group that best matches the wood type you are measuring for accurate results.
6.4 Taking Measurements
- Ensure the correct mode (Wood or Building) and wood species group (if applicable) are selected.
- Carefully push the sensor pins into the material to be measured. Ensure both pins fully penetrate the surface.
- The moisture content percentage will be displayed on the LCD.
- Remove the pins from the material after reading.

6.5 Hold Function
Press the HOLD button to freeze the current measurement on the display. This is useful for taking readings in hard-to-reach or poorly lit areas. Press the HOLD button again to release the reading and resume live measurement.
6.6 Audible Alert and Indicators
The meter features visual indicators (LOW, MID, HIGH) and an audible buzzer. When the moisture content reaches a high level, the HIGH indicator light will illuminate, and the buzzer will sound to alert you.
