2. Important Safety Instructions
WARNING: Read and follow all instructions carefully before installing and using this product. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death.
- Always disconnect the pump from the electrical outlet before servicing or cleaning.
- The pump must be supplied by a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) or residual current device (RCD) with a rated tripping current not exceeding 30 mA.
- Do not bury the electrical cord. Locate cord to minimize abuse from lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and other equipment.
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not use an extension cord to connect the unit to an electrical supply. Provide a properly located outlet.
- Do not operate the pump if the power cord or plug is damaged.
- Never operate the pump when the pool is occupied.
- This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

4. Assembly and Installation
Follow these steps for proper assembly and installation of your filter pump. Refer to your pool's specific instructions for connecting the hoses to the pool's inlet and outlet ports.
- Position the Pump: Place the filter pump on a solid, level surface, at least 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the pool edge. Ensure the pump is lower than the pool's water level.
- Connect Hoses: Attach one hose from the pump's inlet port (marked with a minus sign or 'IN') to the pool's water outlet (suction) port. Attach the second hose from the pump's outlet port (marked with a plus sign or 'OUT') to the pool's water inlet (return) port. Secure all hose connections with clamps.
- Install Strainers: Insert the inlet and outlet strainers into the corresponding ports inside the pool.
- Ensure Water Flow: Open any valves or plugs on the pool's inlet and outlet ports to allow water to flow into the pump. The pump housing should fill with water.
- Bleed Air: Loosen the air release valve on top of the filter pump housing until water starts to flow out. Close the valve once all air has escaped.
- Electrical Connection: Plug the pump into a properly grounded electrical outlet protected by a GFCI/RCD.
5. Operation
The Bestway Flowclear filter pump is designed for ease of use, featuring an energy-saving plug with a built-in timer for customizable operation.
- Starting the Pump: After ensuring proper installation and water flow, plug the pump into the electrical outlet. The pump will begin to operate.
- Setting the Timer: The energy-saving plug allows you to set the pump to run for a specific duration, up to 10 hours. Consult the instructions provided with the plug for detailed timer setting procedures. This feature helps optimize filtration cycles and energy consumption.
- Daily Operation: For optimal water clarity, operate the filter pump daily. The duration of operation depends on pool size, bather load, and environmental conditions. A general guideline is to run the pump for at least 8-10 hours per day.
- Stopping the Pump: To turn off the pump, simply unplug it from the electrical outlet.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance of your filter pump is crucial for its longevity and for maintaining clean pool water. The primary maintenance task involves cleaning or replacing the filter cartridge.
- Disconnect Power: Always unplug the filter pump from the electrical outlet before performing any maintenance.
- Close Valves: Close the pool's inlet and outlet valves (if applicable) to prevent water from flowing out of the pool.
- Remove Filter Housing Lid: Unscrew the collar retainer and remove the filter housing lid.
- Remove Cartridge: Carefully remove the used Type III-A/C filter cartridge from the pump housing.
- Clean or Replace:
- Cleaning: Rinse the filter cartridge thoroughly with a garden hose to remove debris. If the cartridge remains dirty or discolored after rinsing, it should be replaced.
- Replacement: Install a new Bestway Type III-A/C filter cartridge into the pump housing.
- Reassemble: Place the filter housing lid back on and tighten the collar retainer securely.
- Restore Power: Open the pool's valves, bleed any air from the pump (as described in Section 4), and plug the pump back into the electrical outlet.
It is recommended to clean the filter cartridge every few days and replace it every 2-4 weeks, depending on pool usage and water conditions.

7. Storage
When the swimming season ends or if the pump will not be used for an extended period, follow these steps for proper storage:
- Disconnect the pump from the power supply.
- Disconnect all hoses from the pump and the pool.
- Remove the filter cartridge and discard it.
- Drain all water from the pump housing.
