Setup

1. Initial Charging

Your Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Before initial use, or if the watch has stopped, ensure it is fully charged.

  • Expose the watch dial to direct sunlight or bright artificial light for several hours.
  • Avoid placing the watch in direct sunlight on a car dashboard or other high-temperature locations, as this can damage the watch.
  • A full charge can take approximately 6-10 hours in direct sunlight, or significantly longer under artificial light.

2. Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull the crown out to position 2: This is the outermost position. The second hand will stop.
  2. Rotate the crown: Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To set the day and date, continue rotating the hands past 12 AM (midnight) to advance the date. Rotate past 12 PM (noon) to advance the day.
  3. Set the correct time: Once the day and date are correctly set for the current time, push the crown back into position 0 (normal position).

3. Adjusting the Bracelet

The stainless steel bracelet features a push-button foldover clasp with safety. For proper fit, the bracelet may need to be adjusted by adding or removing links. It is recommended to have this adjustment performed by a qualified jeweler or Citizen service center to prevent damage.

Operating Your Watch

Basic Timekeeping

Once fully charged and set, your Citizen Eco-Drive watch will maintain accurate time. The watch features a 3-hand display (hour, minute, second) along with day and date indicators.

Day and Date Function

The day and date indicators automatically advance at midnight. If the date changes during the day, it indicates that the AM/PM setting is incorrect. To correct this, pull the crown out to position 2 and advance the time by 12 hours.

Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM). This rating makes it suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but not for diving. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water. Avoid operating the crown while the watch is wet.

Maintenance

Charging Best Practices

  • To maintain optimal performance, expose your watch to light regularly.
  • Avoid prolonged storage in dark places, as this can deplete the power reserve.
  • If the watch is stored in darkness for an extended period, it may take longer to fully recharge.

Cleaning Your Watch

Wipe the watch case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by drying thoroughly. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in a location where it can receive some light to maintain its charge. If storing for an extended period, ensure it is periodically exposed to light.
