Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the grinder for any damage. Keep packaging for future transport if needed.
  2. Placement: Place the grinder on a stable, flat, and dry surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.
  3. Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the exterior of the grinder with a damp cloth. Wash the bean hopper and lid with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. Ensure all parts are dry before assembly.
  4. Assemble Hopper: Place the clean, dry bean hopper onto the grinder body. Ensure it is seated correctly and securely.
  5. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the specifications of the grinder.

The STONE M2E offers a wide range of grind settings suitable for various brewing methods, from fine espresso to coarse French press. For espresso, a very fine grind is typically required.

3. Grinding Coffee

  1. Ensure the portafilter holder is correctly positioned under the grind outlet.
  2. Place your portafilter into the holder.
  3. Press the power/start button to begin grinding. The grinder will dispense ground coffee directly into your portafilter.
  4. Press the button again to stop grinding, or the grinder may have a timed grinding feature (refer to specific model features if applicable).
  5. Remove the portafilter and prepare your espresso.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your grinder.

Daily Cleaning

Weekly / Bi-Weekly Deep Cleaning

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the grinder from the power outlet before cleaning.
  2. Remove Hopper: Empty any remaining beans from the hopper. Remove the bean hopper by rotating it counter-clockwise and lifting it off.
  3. Clean Hopper: Wash the bean hopper and lid with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  4. Clean Burrs:
    • Locate the upper burr assembly. Depending on the model, this may involve rotating a locking mechanism or unscrewing a component.
    • Carefully remove the upper burr.
    • Use a stiff brush (often provided with the grinder) to clean both the upper and lower burrs, removing all coffee residue.
    • Do not wash burrs with water.
  5. Clean Grind Chamber: Use a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove grounds from the grind chamber.
  6. Reassemble: Reinstall the burrs and bean hopper, ensuring all parts are securely in place.

Note: Never immerse the main grinder body in water or any other liquid.

Troubleshooting
