1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the YIHUA 959D Hot Air Rework Station. This device is designed for precise SMD component soldering and desoldering, heat shrinking, paint removal, preheating, and other applications requiring controlled hot air. It features rapid heating, stable temperature control, and user-friendly preset channels for efficient operation. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure safe and optimal performance.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply matches the station's requirements (230V AC, EU PLUG). Do not operate with wet hands or in damp environments. Disconnect power before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Heat Hazard: The hot air gun operates at high temperatures (up to 500°C). Avoid direct contact with the nozzle or heated components. Allow the hot air gun to cool down completely before storing.
  • Ventilation: Use the station in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes from soldering or heated materials.
  • Flammable Materials: Keep flammable liquids, gases, and materials away from the work area.
  • ESD Protection: The included tweezers are ESD safe. Always take appropriate electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions when working with sensitive electronic components.
  • Children and Unauthorized Users: Keep the device out of reach of children and ensure only trained personnel operate it.

4. Product Overview

The YIHUA 959D features a robust design with an intuitive control panel for precise temperature and airflow management.

  • Temperature Display: Shows the current or set temperature in Celsius.
  • 3 Preset Channels (CH1, CH2, CH3): Allows saving and recalling three frequently used temperature and airflow settings.
  • Air Volume Adjustment Knob: Controls the hot air flow rate (8 levels, max 120L/min).
  • Temperature Adjustment Buttons: Used to increase or decrease the target temperature (range 100°C to 500°C).
  • Power Switch: Turns the unit on or off.
  • PID Temperature Stabilization: An indicator for the precision temperature control system.

5. Setup

5.1 Connecting the Hot Air Gun

Connect the hot air gun cable to the designated port on the main unit. Ensure a secure connection.

5.2 Installing Hot Air Nozzles

Follow these steps to correctly install a nozzle:

  1. Turn off the device and wait for the steel tube to cool down completely.
  2. Insert the desired nozzle onto the steel tube and push it down firmly.
  3. Tighten the screw to secure the nozzle. Do not overtighten to avoid deformation.

5.3 Power Connection

Connect the power cord to the station and then to a suitable 230V AC power outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

Press the power switch on the front panel to turn the station on or off. The display will illuminate upon power-on.

6.2 Setting Temperature and Air Volume

  • Temperature: Use the ▲ (up) and ▼ (down) buttons to adjust the desired temperature between 100°C and 500°C. The PID program stabilizes the temperature every 20 milliseconds for accuracy.
  • Air Volume: Rotate the 'AIR' knob to select an air volume level from 1 to 8.

6.3 Using Preset Channels (CH1, CH2, CH3)

The station allows you to save and recall three sets of temperature and air volume settings.

  • To Save: Set your desired temperature and air volume. Press and hold one of the CH1, CH2, or CH3 buttons until the display flashes, indicating the settings are saved.
  • To Recall: Briefly press the desired CH1, CH2, or CH3 button to instantly switch to the saved settings.

6.4 Auto Start/Stop Function (Sleep Mode)

The hot air gun features an automatic start/stop function for safety and extended heating element life.

  • When the hot air gun is placed in its holder, it automatically cools down to 100°C and enters sleep mode (display shows '---').
  • When the hot air gun is removed from its holder, it quickly heats up to the last set temperature and resumes operation.

6.5 General Usage Tips

  • Always use the appropriate nozzle size for the component you are working on.
  • Maintain a safe distance between the nozzle and the component to prevent overheating or damage.
  • Use the included work mat to protect your workbench and organize small components.
  • For SMD rework, apply heat evenly and use the ESD safe tweezers to carefully remove or place components.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the hot air gun nozzle and the main unit with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Nozzle Inspection: Periodically check nozzles for blockages or damage. Replace if necessary.
  • Storage: Store the station in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use. Ensure the hot air gun is placed in its holder to activate sleep mode and cool down.

8. Troubleshooting
