1. Introduction

The MR CARTOOL V308 is a versatile 4-cylinder fuel injector cleaner and tester machine designed for automotive and motorcycle fuel systems. It combines ultrasonic cleaning capabilities with various testing functions to diagnose and maintain fuel injectors, ensuring optimal engine performance and fuel efficiency.

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and effective operation, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your V308 unit.

2. Safety Information

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves and eye protection, when handling cleaning and testing fluids.
  • Ensure the machine is connected to a stable 110V AC power supply.
  • Important Fluid Note: The ultrasonic cleaning function supports almost all gasoline and diesel fuel injectors. However, the fuel injector testing function is only compatible with gasoline injectors.
  • Critical Fluid Warning: Do not use corrosive cleaning fluid for testing. For injector testing, use 99% medical alcohol or paraffin. The cleaning fluid is specifically for the ultrasonic cleaning tank and should NEVER be added to the testing chamber, as it will damage the pump.
  • Always add cleaning liquid to the ultrasonic tank before starting the ultrasonic cleaning function. Operating the unit dry will damage the ultrasonic motherboard.
  • Ensure proper ventilation when working with fuel and cleaning agents.

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your MR CARTOOL V308 machine:

  1. Install Drain Valves: Screw the two drain valves into their respective ports on the side of the machine (one for cleaning fluid, one for testing fluid).
  2. Install Cleaning Bracket: Place the stainless steel cleaning bracket inside the ultrasonic cleaning tank.
  3. Connect Power Cable: Plug the power cable into the machine's power socket and then into a 110V AC outlet.
  4. Connect Injectors for Ultrasonic Cleaning: Connect the pulse signal cables to the fuel injectors. Place the injectors into the cleaning bracket within the ultrasonic tank.
  5. Add Cleaning Fluid: Pour the specialized cleaning fluid into the ultrasonic tank, ensuring the injectors are submerged.
  6. Install Fixing Screws: Insert the two long fixing screws into the designated holes on the top of the machine.
  7. Prepare Injectors for Testing: Attach the appropriate adapter joints to the fuel injectors you intend to test.
  8. Install Oil Rail: Mount the prepared injectors onto the oil rail (oil separator) and then place the entire assembly onto the fixing screws on the machine. Secure it with the provided nuts.
  9. Install Oil Supply Hose: Connect the oil supply hose from the machine to the oil rail.
  10. Connect Pulse Signal Cables for Testing: Connect the pulse signal cables from the machine to the injectors mounted on the oil rail.
  11. Add Testing Fluid: Open the oil drain valve for the testing fluid. Use the funnel to pour the recommended testing fluid (e.g., 99% medical alcohol or paraffin) into the glass measuring cylinders. Observe the testing fluid sight glass to ensure the level is between MIN and MAX. Close the oil drain valve once filled.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Ultrasonic Cleaning Mode

This mode uses ultrasonic waves to thoroughly clean carbon deposits from fuel injectors. The V308 features a 2000ml capacity ultrasonic cleaning tank and a heating function to enhance cleaning effectiveness.

  1. Ensure injectors are connected to pulse signal cables and submerged in cleaning fluid within the ultrasonic tank (as per setup).
  2. Turn on the main power switch on the side of the machine.
  3. On the control panel, select the Ultrasonic Cleaning function (Function 01).
  4. Adjust the cleaning time using the 'Working/Injecting Times' controls.
  5. Press the START button to begin ultrasonic cleaning.
  6. To activate the heating function, press the Heating Switch on the side of the machine. The cleaning fluid can be heated up to 40°C for more effective carbon removal.
  7. Once cleaning is complete, press STOP.

5.2. Fuel Injector Testing Mode

This mode allows for comprehensive testing of fuel injectors to assess their performance characteristics.

  1. Ensure injectors are installed on the oil rail, connected to pulse signal cables, and the testing fluid is at the correct level (as per setup).
  2. Turn on the main power switch.
  3. On the control panel, select the desired testing function from the 'Functions Menu'. Available tests include:
    • Idle Speed Test (0-20 ms)
    • Medium Speed Test (0-7.5 ms)
    • High Speed Test (0-4 ms)
    • Accelerating Test
    • Shifting Speed Test
    • Leak Checking Test
    • Idle Spray Volume Test
    • Medium Spray Volume Test
    • High Spray Volume Test
    • Unit Info
  4. Adjust the 'Working/Injecting Times' and 'Functions/Pulse Width' as needed for the selected test.
  5. Adjust the working pressure using the PRESSURE ADJUST knob and observe the pressure gauge.
  6. Press the START button to begin the test. Observe the spray pattern, atomization, and volume in the glass cylinders.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your V308 machine.

  • Fluid Recovery: After each cleaning or testing session, especially if the equipment will not be used for an extended period, recover the cleaning and testing fluids into appropriate bottles using the drain valves. This prevents contamination and preserves the fluids for future use.
  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe down the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the control panel or housing.
  • Storage: Store the machine in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your V308 machine, consider the following common solutions:

  • No Ultrasonic Cleaning Action: Ensure the cleaning fluid is added to the ultrasonic tank before selecting the ultrasonic cleaning function. Operating without fluid can damage the motherboard.
  • Incorrect Testing Results/Pump Malfunction: Verify that the correct type of fluid is used for each function. Testing fluid (99% medical alcohol or paraffin) should only be used in the testing cylinders, and cleaning fluid should only be used in the ultrasonic tank. Mixing these fluids or using cleaning fluid in the testing chamber can damage the pump.
  • No Power: Check that the power cable is securely connected to both the machine and a working 110V AC outlet, and that the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • Inconsistent Spray Pattern: Ensure injectors are properly seated and connected. Re-run the ultrasonic cleaning cycle if carbon buildup is suspected.
