3. Installation Instructions

Always wear appropriate safety gear, such as eye protection, when working with tools and fasteners.

Tools Required:

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver (manual or power drill with Phillips bit)
  • Drill with 3/16 inch drill bit (only for masonry/concrete/plaster applications)

Installation Steps:

  1. Positioning: Place the tip of the Borefast anchor at the desired mounting location on the wall.
  2. Driving the Anchor:
    • For Drywall, Wood, or Metal Studs: Using a Phillips head screwdriver or a power drill on a low-speed setting, drive the anchor directly into the wall. The aggressive threads are designed to self-drill and create a secure grip.
    • For Concrete, Brick, Block, or Plaster: First, pre-drill a 3/16 inch hole at the desired location. Then, drive the anchor into the pre-drilled hole using a Phillips head screwdriver or a power drill on a low-speed setting.
  3. Securing the Fixture: Once the anchor is fully seated and flush with the wall surface, align your fixture over the anchor. Insert the provided screw through the fixture and into the anchor.
  4. Final Tightening: Tighten the screw until the fixture is secure. Avoid over-tightening, especially with power tools, as this can damage the anchor or the wall material. It is recommended to finish tightening by hand for optimal control.

4. Usage and Load Capacity

Borefast anchors provide reliable holding power when installed correctly. Refer to the following guidelines for maximum allowable loads:

  • In 1/2 inch Drywall: Up to 50 lbs
  • In Wood or Masonry (e.g., 4,000 psi concrete): Up to 200 lbs

Note: Load values are based on proper installation and material integrity. Always consider the weight of the item being hung and the condition of the wall material.

5. Care and Maintenance

These anchors are designed to be removable and reusable. To remove, simply unscrew the fastener. If the anchor itself needs to be removed, carefully unscrew it from the wall. Store unused anchors and screws in a dry environment to prevent corrosion.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Anchor Not Gripping: Ensure you are using the correct installation method for your wall material. For drywall, wood, or metal studs, the anchor is self-drilling. For masonry, concrete, brick, or plaster, a 3/16 inch pilot hole is required. Avoid over-drilling the pilot hole, as this can prevent the anchor from gripping.
  • Screw Head Stripping: Use the correct size Phillips head bit and apply firm, steady pressure while driving the screw. If using a power drill, set it to a low torque setting and finish tightening by hand.
  • Damage to Wall Material: Excessive force during installation, especially with power tools, can damage the wall. Drive the anchor and screw slowly and carefully, stopping when the head is flush with the surface.
