6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Tefal Handheld Clothes Steamer.

  1. Empty Water Tank: After each use, unplug the steamer and allow it to cool down. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water. This prevents mineral buildup.
  2. Clean Microfibre Brush: The microfibre brush can be washed by hand with mild soap and water, or machine washed according to its care label. Allow it to air dry completely before reattaching or storing.
  3. Clean Steam Head: Wipe the steam head with a soft, damp cloth to remove any residue. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  4. Descaling: If you notice reduced steam output or mineral residue, descaling may be necessary.
    • Fill the water tank with a mixture of 50% white vinegar and 50% deionized water.
    • Plug in the steamer and allow it to heat up.
    • Steam into a sink or basin until the tank is empty.
    • Repeat the process with clean deionized water to rinse out any vinegar residue.
    • Perform descaling every few months, or more frequently if you live in an area with hard water.
  5. Storage: Store the steamer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Ensure the water tank is empty and the appliance is completely cool before storing. The self-standing design allows for convenient upright storage.
