Model: SUNPIE-12ROCK-SUPER

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your SUNPIE 12 Pods RGBW Rock Lights. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety. These lights are designed to provide customizable illumination for various vehicles, including trucks, SUVs, ATVs, UTVs, and boats.

2. Product Overview

The SUNPIE 12 Pods RGBW Rock Light Kit features high-power LED pods designed for durability and wide-angle illumination. Each pod includes dedicated white LEDs for pure white light, unlike RGB-only systems that mix colors to simulate white. The system offers versatile control via a smartphone application, allowing for color changes, music synchronization, voice control, and various strobe modes. The robust metal base ensures longevity and heat resistance.

3. Safety Information

  • Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before performing any electrical installation to prevent short circuits and electrical shock.
  • Ensure all wiring connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent water ingress and corrosion.
  • Do not modify the product in any way. Unauthorized modifications may void the warranty and pose safety risks.
  • Keep wiring away from hot engine components, moving parts, and sharp edges.
  • Consult a professional if you are unsure about any part of the installation process.

4. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:

  • 12 x RGBW Rock Light Pods
  • 1 x Bluetooth Control Box
  • 1 x Wiring Harness
  • 1 x Remote Control (Note: Availability may vary by kit version)
  • Mounting Hardware (screws, nuts, washers)

5. Installation Instructions

The installation process involves mounting the light pods, routing the wiring, and connecting to the vehicle's power source. Each rock light pod comes with approximately 11.5 feet of wire.

  1. Plan Placement: Determine the optimal locations for each of the 12 rock light pods. Common areas include wheel wells, under the chassis, or along the frame. Ensure the chosen locations allow for secure mounting and clear light projection.
  2. Mounting Pods: Secure each rock light pod using the provided mounting hardware. You may need to drill pilot holes in the mounting surface. Ensure the pods are firmly attached and oriented correctly for desired light coverage.
  3. Route Wiring: Carefully route the wires from each light pod towards the central location where the Bluetooth control box will be installed. Avoid routing wires near hot engine parts, exhaust systems, or any moving components. Use zip ties or cable clips to secure the wiring and prevent sagging or damage. If longer wires are needed for rear wheels or other distant locations, consider using extension wires (e.g., ASIN: B08L8N72KH).
  4. Install Control Box: Mount the Bluetooth control box in a dry, accessible location, preferably within the vehicle's cabin or a protected area under the hood. Ensure it is away from direct heat and moisture.
  5. Connect Pods to Control Box: Connect the wires from each rock light pod to the corresponding ports on the Bluetooth control box. Ensure connections are snug.
  6. Power Connection: Connect the main power wire from the control box to the vehicle's 12V positive (+) terminal (battery or fused accessory circuit) and the ground wire to a suitable chassis ground point. It is recommended to use an inline fuse (not included) for protection.
  7. Test System: Once all connections are made, reconnect the vehicle's battery and test the lights using the app or remote control.

6. Wiring Diagram

The system typically connects as follows:

  • Red Wire: Connect to vehicle's 12V positive (+) terminal (battery or fused accessory circuit).
  • Black Wire: Connect to vehicle's chassis ground (-) or battery negative terminal.
  • Light Pod Connectors: Plug into the corresponding output ports on the Bluetooth control box.

Note: A detailed diagram is usually provided with the physical product. Refer to that for specific wire colors and connections if different.

7. App Control & Operation

The SUNPIE rock lights are primarily controlled via a dedicated smartphone application.

  1. Download App: Search for "Sunpie LED" or a similar app name (refer to product packaging or included instructions for the exact app name) on your smartphone's app store (iOS App Store or Google Play Store).
  2. Enable Bluetooth: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  3. Connect to Lights: Open the app. It should automatically detect and connect to the SUNPIE Bluetooth control box. If not, follow the in-app instructions to pair.
  4. Color Mode: Use the app's color wheel or preset color options to select your desired light color.
  5. Strobe Modes: The app offers more than 20 different strobe modes for dynamic lighting effects.

8. Remote Control Operation

If your kit includes a physical remote control, it can be used for basic functions.

  • Power Button: Turns the lights On/Off.
  • Color Buttons: Selects preset colors.
  • Mode Buttons: Cycles through various lighting effects (e.g., flash, fade, strobe).
  • Brightness Adjustment: Increases or decreases light intensity.

Note: The remote control typically operates via RF (Radio Frequency), allowing control without direct line of sight.

9. Music and Voice Modes

The SUNPIE rock lights offer interactive lighting experiences through music and voice modes, controlled via the smartphone app.

  • Music Mode: In this mode, the lights will synchronize with music playing through your smartphone's microphone or selected audio source, creating dynamic light patterns that pulse and change with the beat.
  • Voice Mode: Similar to music mode, voice mode allows the lights to react to ambient sounds or spoken words, providing an interactive visual response.

10. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the light pods with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Connection Check: Regularly inspect all wiring connections for corrosion, looseness, or damage, especially after off-road use or exposure to harsh weather.
  • Water Resistance: The pods are waterproof, but ensure the control box is installed in a protected area to prevent water damage.

11. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Lights do not turn on.No power to control box; loose wiring; blown fuse.Check power and ground connections. Verify fuse (if installed). Ensure all light pods are securely connected to the control box.
App cannot connect to control box.Bluetooth disabled; control box not powered; app issue.Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Verify the control box has power. Restart the app and try pairing again. Restart your phone if necessary.
Lights are flickering or inconsistent.Loose connections; insufficient power; damaged wiring.Inspect all wiring and connections for looseness or damage. Ensure the power source is stable (e.g., vehicle battery is charged).
