1. Important Safety Information

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply matches the voltage specified on the rating plate. The appliance must be properly grounded. Do not use extension cords or multiple adapters.

  • Children and Vulnerable Persons: This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

3. Installation

The CIARRA CAS9201A extractor hood is designed for wall mounting. It can operate in two modes: ducted extraction or recirculation. Ensure all necessary accessories are present before beginning installation.

3.1 Package Contents:

  • 1 x Extractor Hood Unit
  • 1 x Bag of Screws and Wall Plugs
  • 2 x Aluminum Grease Filters (pre-installed)
  • 2 x Chimney Extension Sections (40+40 cm)
  • 1 x Exhaust Duct (1.5 m)
  • 1 x UK Standard Plug (may vary by region)
  • 1 x Instruction Manual
  • 1 x Pair of Carbon Filters (for recirculation mode, included)

3.2 Installation Steps:

  1. Preparation: Unpack the hood and check for any damage. Ensure you have all components listed above.
  2. Mounting Height: Determine the appropriate mounting height above your hob. Refer to local building codes and the minimum distance specified in the full manual.
  3. Marking and Drilling: Use the provided template (if available) or measure carefully to mark drilling points on the wall for the hood and chimney bracket. Drill holes and insert wall plugs.
  4. Mounting the Hood: Secure the hood to the wall using the provided screws. Ensure it is level and firmly attached.
  5. Ducting (Ducted Mode): Connect the exhaust duct to the hood's outlet and route it to an external vent. Ensure the duct is as straight and short as possible to maximize efficiency.
  6. Recirculation (Filter Mode): If using recirculation, install the carbon filters onto the motor as per the instructions in the full manual. The exhaust duct is not used in this mode, but the chimney sections are still installed for aesthetic purposes.
  7. Chimney Installation: Attach the chimney extension sections, ensuring they fit securely and cover the ducting or motor assembly.
  8. Electrical Connection: Connect the hood to a suitable power outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

The CIARRA CAS9201A extractor hood features intuitive touch controls for easy operation of its functions.

4.1 Control Panel:

The control panel is located on the front underside of the hood. It typically includes buttons for power, fan speed adjustment, and lighting.

4.2 Functions:

  • Power On/Off: Press the power button to turn the hood on or off.
  • Fan Speed Adjustment: Select from three speed levels (low, medium, high) to match your cooking intensity. Use lower speeds for simmering and higher speeds for frying or grilling.
  • Light On/Off: Press the light button to turn the LED cooking area illumination on or off.

For optimal performance, turn on the hood a few minutes before you start cooking and leave it running for a few minutes after you finish to ensure all fumes are cleared.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your CIARRA extractor hood.

5.1 Cleaning the Aluminum Grease Filters:

The aluminum grease filters should be cleaned regularly, typically every 2-4 weeks depending on usage, to prevent grease buildup and maintain suction efficiency. They are washable and can be cleaned by hand or in a dishwasher.

  1. Removal: Carefully unlatch and remove the aluminum grease filters from the underside of the hood.
  2. Cleaning: Wash the filters in warm soapy water or place them in a dishwasher on a gentle cycle. Avoid using abrasive cleaners.
  3. Drying and Reinstallation: Allow the filters to dry completely before reinserting them into the hood.

5.2 Replacing Carbon Filters (Recirculation Mode Only):

If your hood is operating in recirculation mode, the carbon filters (included) need to be replaced periodically, typically every 3-6 months, as they cannot be washed. Refer to the full manual for specific replacement instructions.

5.3 Cleaning the Hood Surface:

Clean the exterior surfaces of the hood with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive pads, as these can damage the stainless steel finish.
