1. Introduction
The STEREN NB-1500 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is designed to provide temporary backup power and protection for your electronic devices. In the event of a power outage, this UPS ensures your equipment continues to receive power, allowing you to save your work and shut down systems safely. It also protects against power surges and features automatic voltage regulation to deliver stable power.
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your NB-1500 UPS. Please read it thoroughly before installation and operation.
2. Key Features
- Backup Power: Provides reserve energy to protect your work during power outages.
- Extended Backup Time: Up to 90 minutes of backup power (calculated with a 65-watt All-In-One PC).
- Dual Batteries: Equipped with two sealed lead-acid batteries (12 Vcc 8 Ah each).
- Long Battery Life: Supports up to 1,000 charge/discharge cycles with proper maintenance.
- Multiple Outlets: Features 6 polarized and grounded outlets for connecting various devices.
- Comprehensive Protection: Safeguards against overloads and short circuits.
- Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR): Ensures connected devices receive stable and appropriate voltage.

3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the UPS from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit. If damage is found, do not use the unit and contact your retailer.
3.2 Placement
Place the UPS in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for proper airflow. Do not block ventilation openings.
3.3 Initial Charging
Before initial use, connect the UPS to a standard wall outlet and allow it to charge for at least 12 hours to ensure the batteries reach 90% capacity. The unit can be turned off during this initial charge.
3.4 Connecting Devices
Plug your electronic devices (e.g., computers, monitors, routers, printers) into the 6 polarized and grounded outlets on the back of the UPS. Ensure that the total power consumption of connected devices does not exceed the UPS's capacity (1500 VA / 750 Watts).

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Normal Operation
When connected to a stable power source, the UPS operates in line mode, providing conditioned power to your connected devices and charging its internal batteries. The LED indicators will show the current status.
4.2 Battery Backup Mode
During a power outage or significant voltage fluctuation, the UPS will automatically switch to battery backup mode. An audible alarm may sound, and the corresponding LED indicator will light up. This provides time to save your work and properly shut down your equipment.
4.3 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)
The NB-1500 features AVR, which automatically corrects minor voltage fluctuations (sags or surges) without switching to battery power. This ensures a consistent and clean power supply to your devices, extending their lifespan.
4.4 LED Indicators
- Green LED: Indicates normal operation (connected to utility power).
- Yellow/Orange LED: Indicates battery charging or battery mode.
- Red LED: Indicates a fault, overload, or low battery condition. Refer to the troubleshooting section for details.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Care
To ensure optimal battery life and performance, it is recommended to fully discharge the UPS at least once every three months. This can be done by unplugging the UPS from the wall outlet while devices are connected and allowing it to run on battery until it shuts down due to low battery. Then, reconnect it to the wall outlet and allow it to fully recharge.
5.2 Cleaning
Periodically clean the exterior of the UPS with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris.
5.3 Battery Replacement
The internal batteries have a finite lifespan. If the backup time significantly decreases or the UPS frequently indicates a battery fault, the batteries may need replacement. Battery replacement should only be performed by qualified service personnel. Contact STEREN support for assistance.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| UPS does not turn on. | No power from wall outlet; UPS not charged; internal fault. | Check wall outlet; ensure UPS is charged for 12 hours; contact support if problem persists. |
| Short backup time. | Overload; old/worn batteries; insufficient charge. | Reduce connected load; perform battery discharge/recharge cycle; consider battery replacement. |
| Constant alarm/Red LED. | Overload; battery fault; internal error. | Disconnect non-essential devices; check battery status; contact support. |
| Devices not receiving power. | UPS off; circuit breaker tripped; faulty outlet. | Turn on UPS; check/reset circuit breaker on UPS; try a different outlet. |
