Introduction
The AKO Flexigate Premium Goal Set is an innovative and flexible gate system designed for electric fences, suitable for entrances up to 6 meters wide. This system features a 40 mm wide tape and is constructed from sustainable bio-based plastic. It includes an integrated retraction brake for controlled material retraction and ensures continuous electrification of the gate. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of your Flexigate system.
Safety Instructions
- Always ensure the electric fence energizer is turned off before installation or maintenance.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during installation.
- Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the installation area.
- Ensure all connections are secure to prevent electrical hazards.
- The integrated retraction brake helps prevent injuries and damage; however, always handle the gate handle with care during retraction.
- Regularly inspect the system for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged components immediately.

Setup and Installation
- Choose Mounting Location: Select a sturdy post for mounting the Flexigate casing. The system can be mounted on either side of the gate opening (left or right).
- Mount the Casing: Position the Flexigate casing on the post at the desired height. Use the provided wood screws to securely attach the casing to the post. Ensure it is level and firmly fixed.

- Install Receiving Post/Insulator: On the opposite side of the gate opening, install a suitable receiving post or insulator to hook the gate handle onto.
Operation
- Opening the Gate: Grasp the gate handle firmly. Unhook it from the receiving post/insulator. The integrated retraction brake will control the retraction of the tape into the casing. Allow the tape to retract fully or hold the handle to control its speed.

- Closing the Gate: Pull the gate handle out from the casing, extending the tape across the opening. Hook the gate handle securely onto the receiving post/insulator. Ensure the tape is taut and properly aligned.
- Electrification: Once the gate is closed and connected, the 40 mm tape will be continuously electrified, forming part of your electric fence system.
Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check the tape for fraying, cuts, or damage. Inspect the casing and gate handle for cracks or wear.
- Connection Check: Ensure the electrification cable connections remain tight and free from corrosion.
- Cleaning: Clean the casing and tape with a damp cloth as needed to remove dirt and debris. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Retraction Mechanism: Ensure the retraction brake operates smoothly. If the tape retracts too slowly or too quickly, inspect for obstructions or damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power to gate tape | Loose connection cable; energizer off; damaged tape. | Check cable connections; ensure energizer is on; inspect tape for breaks and repair/replace. |
| Tape retracts slowly or gets stuck | Debris in casing; damaged retraction mechanism; tape twisted. | Clean casing; inspect mechanism for damage; untwist tape. |
| Gate handle does not secure properly | Receiving post/insulator damaged or misaligned. | Inspect and adjust/replace receiving post or insulator. |
