The HIBREW machine is compatible with three types of coffee formats. Use the appropriate capsule holder for each type:

  • Nes* Original Capsules: Insert the Nes* Original capsule holder and place the capsule inside.
  • DG* Capsules: Insert the DG* capsule holder and place the capsule inside.
  • Ground Coffee: Insert the ground coffee holder. Fill it with your desired amount of ground coffee. Important: Do not use excessively fine coffee powder, as this may cause clogging.

Note: This product is not compatible with Nes* Vertuo, ESE Pod, or Lavaz* Blue capsules.

5.5 Customizing Brew Volume

Customized brew volume settings for HIBREW Espresso Machine

Image: A diagram illustrating preset and custom brew volumes. Preset volumes are shown for Ground Coffee (1 oz) and Nes* Original (2.2 oz). Custom brew allows users to long-press the short/lungo buttons to set their preferred volume, with examples for Triple (3-4 oz) and DG* (1-7 oz).

The machine has preset brew volumes, but you can customize them to your preference:

  • To Program: With the machine on and ready, press and hold either the small cup or lungo cup button. The machine will start brewing. Release the button when your desired volume is reached. The machine will remember this setting for future brews using that button.
  • To Reset: Unplug the machine for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. This will reset the brew volumes to factory defaults.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your espresso machine.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  1. Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use or when the indicator is full. Wash with warm, soapy water and dry.
  2. Water Reservoir: Empty any remaining water and rinse the reservoir daily. Refill with fresh water before each use.
  3. Capsule Holders: Remove and rinse the used capsule holder after each brew. For ground coffee, discard used grounds and rinse the holder thoroughly.
  4. Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.

6.2 Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in the machine, affecting performance and taste. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

  1. Empty the water reservoir.
  2. Fill the reservoir with a descaling solution (e.g., white vinegar and water, or a commercial descaling agent) according to the product's instructions.
  3. Place a large container under the brewing outlet.
  4. Run several brew cycles without a capsule until the reservoir is empty.
  5. Rinse the reservoir thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
  6. Run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to rinse out any descaling solution residue.
