1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your CRAFTSMAN B2000 25cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Handheld Leaf Blower. Please read and understand all instructions before using the product. Proper use and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and extend the life of your equipment.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.

  • Read the Manual: Always read and understand the entire instruction manual before operating the leaf blower.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate safety gear, including eye protection (safety glasses or goggles), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), gloves, long pants, and sturdy, non-slip footwear.
  • Fuel Handling: Gasoline is highly flammable. Handle fuel with extreme care. Always refuel outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Do not smoke or use open flames near fuel. Allow the engine to cool before refueling. Store gasoline in approved containers.
  • Ventilation: Never operate the engine in an enclosed space. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, which is a colorless, odorless, and deadly gas.
  • Bystanders: Keep children, pets, and other bystanders at least 50 feet (15 meters) away from the operating area.
  • Pre-Operation Check: Before each use, inspect the blower for loose fasteners, damaged parts, or fuel leaks. Ensure all guards and covers are in place.
  • Clear Work Area: Remove any objects from the work area that could be thrown by the air stream, such as rocks, glass, or metal.
  • Secure Grip: Always maintain a firm grip on the blower handle during operation.
  • Avoid Contact: Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts.
  • No Modifications: Do not modify the leaf blower in any way. Unauthorized modifications can impair safety and performance.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all items are present in the package:

  • CRAFTSMAN B2000 Handheld Gas Blower Unit
  • Blower Tube
  • 2-Cycle Engine Oil (sample bottle)
  • Operator's Manual (this document)

4. Assembly and Setup

4.1 Attaching the Blower Tube

  1. Align the blower tube with the outlet on the main blower unit.
  2. Push the tube firmly onto the outlet until it clicks into place or is securely seated. Ensure it is locked to prevent it from detaching during operation.

4.2 Fuel Mixing (2-Cycle Engine)

Your CRAFTSMAN B2000 uses a 2-cycle engine and requires a mixture of unleaded gasoline and 2-cycle engine oil. Use a fuel-to-oil ratio of 50:1 (2.6 oz of 2-cycle oil per 1 gallon of gasoline).

  • Use fresh (less than 30 days old) unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
  • Use a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil specifically designed for air-cooled engines.
  • Mix the fuel and oil thoroughly in a separate, approved fuel container before pouring into the blower's fuel tank.
  • Do not mix fuel directly in the blower's fuel tank.

4.3 Filling the Fuel Tank

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Place the blower on a level surface.
  3. Carefully remove the fuel cap.
  4. Pour the pre-mixed fuel into the fuel tank, being careful not to overfill. The translucent fuel tank allows you to monitor the fuel level.
  5. Securely replace the fuel cap. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.

5. Operation

5.1 Starting the Engine (Easy Start Technology)

  1. Prime the Engine: Press the primer bulb 6-10 times until fuel is visible in the return line.
  2. Set Choke: Move the choke lever to the FULL CHOKE position.
  3. Pull Starter Cord: Hold the blower firmly on the ground. Pull the starter cord slowly until resistance is felt, then pull quickly and firmly. Repeat 1-3 times until the engine attempts to start or 'pops'.
  4. Partial Choke: Once the engine 'pops' or attempts to start, move the choke lever to the HALF CHOKE position.
  5. Restart: Pull the starter cord quickly and firmly again. The engine should start within 1-3 pulls.
  6. Full Run: Once the engine starts, allow it to run for 10-15 seconds, then move the choke lever to the RUN position. Allow the engine to warm up for 30-60 seconds before applying full throttle.

5.2 Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine, simply move the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.

5.3 Using the Blower

  • Variable Speed Throttle: The blower features a variable speed throttle. Squeeze the throttle trigger to increase air speed and release to decrease.
  • Cruise Control: For extended operation at a consistent speed, engage the cruise control lever. Adjust the lever to the desired speed setting.
  • Extended Nozzle with Scraper: The extended nozzle is designed to direct airflow efficiently. The integrated scraper at the end of the nozzle can be used to dislodge stubborn debris or matted leaves.
  • Operating Technique: Hold the blower with both hands for better control. Sweep from side to side, moving debris in front of you. Avoid blowing debris towards people, animals, or fragile objects.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your leaf blower.

6.1 Air Filter Cleaning

A dirty air filter can reduce engine performance and increase fuel consumption. Clean the air filter regularly, especially in dusty conditions.

  1. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool.
  2. Locate and remove the air filter cover.
  3. Remove the foam air filter element.
  4. Wash the filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to air dry completely.
  5. Lightly oil the dry filter with 2-cycle engine oil, then squeeze out any excess oil.
  6. Reinstall the air filter and cover.

6.2 Spark Plug Inspection and Replacement

Inspect the spark plug periodically for wear, carbon buildup, or damage.

  • Turn off the engine and allow it to cool.
  • Remove the spark plug boot.
  • Use a spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug.
  • Check the electrode for wear and the insulator for cracks. Clean any carbon deposits with a wire brush.
  • Ensure the spark plug gap is set to the manufacturer's specification (refer to the full service manual if needed).
  • Replace the spark plug if it is worn or damaged.
  • Reinstall the spark plug and boot.

6.3 Fuel System Care and Storage

  • Short-Term Storage: If storing for less than 30 days, ensure the fuel tank is full with fresh, stabilized fuel.
  • Long-Term Storage (over 30 days): Drain all fuel from the tank and carburetor. Run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel. This prevents gum and varnish deposits from forming in the fuel system.
  • Store the blower in a clean, dry area, away from heat sources and open flames.

6.4 General Cleaning

Keep the exterior of the blower clean. Remove any debris from the air intake and cooling fins to prevent overheating.
