1. Product Overview

The HTH Pool Care 1" Chlorine Tabs (Model 42049) are designed for effective swimming pool water sanitation. These slow-dissolving tablets protect against bacteria and algae, helping to maintain clear and healthy pool water. Each tab includes an added clarifier for enhanced water clarity and is sun-protected for extended chlorine life.

2. Safety Information

DANGER: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

Read all precautionary statements on the product label before use. This product is a strong oxidizing agent. Improper use can cause fire, explosion, or release of toxic gases.

First Aid:

  • If in eyes: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.
  • If on skin or clothing: Take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Call a poison control center or doctor for treatment advice.
  • If inhaled: Move person to fresh air. If person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably mouth-to-mouth if possible. Call a poison control center or doctor for further treatment advice.
  • If swallowed: Call a poison control center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have person sip a glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by a poison control center or doctor. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Physical and Chemical Hazards:

  • Do not mix with other products. Mixing with other chemicals, including other pool chemicals, can cause a violent reaction, fire, or explosion.
  • Contamination with moisture, organic matter, or other chemicals may cause a violent reaction, fire, or explosion.
  • Do not allow product to come into contact with any foreign matter.
  • Use only in a floater, feeder, or skimmer basket. Do not throw tablets directly into the pool.
  • Do not use in a skimmer basket if it contains other products.
  • Do not use in a skimmer basket if the skimmer is not equipped with a weir.
  • Do not use in a skimmer basket if the skimmer is not equipped with a flow control device.
  • Do not use in a skimmer basket if the skimmer is not equipped with a pump operation timer.
  • If chlorine residual goes above 4 ppm, remove tablets from skimmer basket until residual drops below 4 ppm.

3. Setup and Usage Instructions

These 1" chlorine tabs are suitable for all pool types, including saltwater systems. Use 1" tabs for above-ground pools. For best results, ensure proper water balance before adding the product.

Application Method:

  1. Place HTH 1" Chlorine Tabs in a floater, feeder, or skimmer basket.
  2. Ensure the product is evenly distributed in the water.
  3. Do not throw tablets directly into the pool.

4. Maintenance

Regular testing and balancing of your pool water are crucial for effective sanitation and swimmer comfort. Maintain chlorine levels between 1 and 4 ppm.

Routine Chlorination:

Add two one-half ounce tablets per 10,000 gallons of water every other day, or as needed to maintain 1-4 ppm free available chlorine. Adjust dosage as needed to maintain desired chlorine residual.

Shock Treatment / Superchlorination:

As a preventative treatment, superchlorinate your pool every 7 days or after heavy rain. Additional shock treatment may be necessary to remedy problems that may occur, such as: persistent odors, eye irritation, cloudy water, and algae. Follow instructions for your chosen HTH shock product.

5. Storage and Disposal

Storage:

Keep this product dry in its tightly closed container when not in use. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Keep away from heat or open flame. Non-refillable container. Do not reuse or refill this container. Rinse empty container thoroughly with water to dissolve all material before discarding. Offer for recycling if available or place in trash. For disposal of a contaminated product or unapproved use, contact your State Pesticide or Environmental Control Agency, or the Hazardous Waste Representative at the nearest EPA Regional Office for guidance.

Disposal:

Emergency Handling: In case of contamination or decomposition – Do not reseal container. If possible, isolate container in a well-ventilated outdoor area by itself. Flood with large amounts of water until the product is gone and any remaining contaminated material is an approved landfill area.
