3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Battery Installation

The keypad requires one Lithium Metal battery (included). The battery compartment is typically located on the back of the unit or under a removable cover. Ensure the battery is inserted with the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.

3.2 Mounting the Keypad

Select a convenient location outside your garage, at least 5 feet above the ground, where the keypad is easily accessible but out of reach of small children. Avoid mounting directly in direct sunlight or where it will be exposed to excessive moisture.

  1. Open the keypad cover.
  2. Mark the desired mounting holes on the wall using the keypad as a template.
  3. Drill pilot holes if necessary, and insert the provided wall anchors.
  4. Secure the keypad to the wall using the provided screws. Ensure it is firmly attached.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Programming the Keypad

The GDR PRO Keyless Keypad is designed to be programmed to your Genie Intellicode garage door opener. Detailed programming instructions are provided with your purchase on a separate programming guide. Generally, the process involves:

  1. Locating the "Learn" or "Program" button on your garage door opener motor head unit.
  2. Pressing the "Learn" button to activate programming mode (the indicator light will typically illuminate).
  3. Quickly entering your desired personal identification number (PIN) on the keypad and pressing the "Program" or "Send" button.
  4. Confirming the programming by testing the keypad.

Note: Refer to the specific programming guide included with your keypad for exact steps, as procedures may vary slightly depending on your Genie opener model. A programming video may also be available to assist you.

4.2 Daily Operation

To operate your garage door using the keypad:

  1. Open the keypad cover.
  2. Enter your programmed 4-digit PIN.
  3. Press the "Program" or "Send" button (or the designated activation button).
  4. The garage door should activate.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

When the keypad's backlight dims or the range decreases, it is likely time to replace the battery. Replace with a new Lithium Metal battery of the same type.

  1. Open the keypad cover.
  2. Locate and remove the battery compartment cover.
  3. Remove the old battery and insert the new battery, observing correct polarity.
  4. Securely replace the battery compartment cover. Ensure it clicks into place to prevent it from falling off.
  5. Test the keypad operation.

5.2 Cleaning

Clean the keypad surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or electronic components.
