Greluma PWM LED Dimmer Controller User Manual

Model: ZL027LUM

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Greluma PWM LED Dimmer Controller. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your device. Please read it thoroughly before installation and use, and keep it for future reference.

This dimmer is specifically designed for single-color LED strip lights, offering smooth and stepless brightness adjustment from 0% to 100%. It utilizes PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) digital dimming technology to ensure stable light output without flickering, thereby protecting your LED lights and enhancing their lifespan.

Key Features:

  • Compatible with DC 12V and 24V LED lighting applications.
  • Designed for single-color 5050, 3528 LED strips. Not suitable for RGB or multi-color LED lights, incandescent lamps, or other non-LED devices.
  • Smooth and stable dimming without flickering.
  • PWM digital dimming prevents peak currents, protecting LED lights.
  • Wide working voltage range: DC 12V (up to 360W) to 24V (up to 720W), with a maximum input current of 30A.
  • Screw terminals for secure and easy input/output connections.
  • Pre-drilled mounting holes for convenient installation.
  • Durable metal casing for enhanced protection.

Safety Precautions

  • Always disconnect power before installation or maintenance.
  • Ensure the input voltage (DC 12V or 24V) matches your LED strip and power supply.
  • Do not exceed the maximum current (30A) or power (360W at 12V, 720W at 24V) ratings.
  • This dimmer is for single-color LED strips only. Do not connect to RGB, multi-color, or other types of lights.
  • Install in a dry environment, away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
  • Ensure proper polarity when connecting input and output wires (V+ to V+, V- to V-). Incorrect polarity can damage the device and connected LEDs.
  • If you are unsure about any part of the installation, consult a qualified electrician.

Setup and Installation

  1. Prepare Components: Ensure you have the Greluma LED Dimmer, a compatible DC 12V or 24V power supply, and a single-color LED strip light.
  2. Power Off: Before making any connections, ensure your power supply is completely disconnected from the main power source.
  3. Connect Power Input:
    • Locate the "IN" terminals on the dimmer (V- and V+).
    • Connect the negative (-) wire from your DC power supply to the "V-" terminal under "IN".
    • Connect the positive (+) wire from your DC power supply to the "V+" terminal under "IN".
    • Tighten the screw terminals securely to ensure good contact.
  4. Connect LED Strip Output:
    • Locate the "OUT" terminals on the dimmer (V+ and V-).
    • Connect the positive (+) wire from your single-color LED strip to the "V+" terminal under "OUT".
    • Connect the negative (-) wire from your single-color LED strip to the "V-" terminal under "OUT".
    • Tighten the screw terminals securely.
  5. Mounting (Optional): Use the pre-drilled mounting holes on the dimmer's metal casing to secure the device to a surface, if desired.
  6. Final Check: Double-check all connections to ensure correct polarity and secure wiring.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Once all connections are secure, connect your DC power supply to the main power source. The LED strip should illuminate.
  2. Turn On/Off: The rotary knob on the dimmer serves as both an on/off switch and a brightness control. Turn the knob fully counter-clockwise until you hear a click to turn the lights off. Turn it clockwise past the click to turn the lights on.
  3. Adjust Brightness: Rotate the knob clockwise to increase brightness and counter-clockwise to decrease brightness. The dimmer provides a smooth, stepless adjustment from 0% (off) to 100% (full brightness).

The PWM digital dimming ensures that the light remains soft and steady throughout the dimming range, preventing any noticeable flickering.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the dimmer, first disconnect power. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the wiring connections to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
  • Environment: Ensure the dimmer is kept in a well-ventilated area, free from excessive dust, moisture, or heat, to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
LEDs do not turn on.
  • No power to the dimmer.
  • Incorrect wiring (polarity reversed, loose connection).
  • Faulty LED strip or power supply.
  • Dimmer knob is in the "OFF" position.
  • Check power supply connection and outlet.
  • Verify all wiring connections for correct polarity (V+ to V+, V- to V-) and tightness.
  • Test LED strip and power supply separately if possible.
  • Turn the dimmer knob clockwise past the click to turn on.
LEDs flicker or are unstable.
  • Overloaded circuit (LED strip power exceeds dimmer capacity).
  • Loose connections.
  • Incompatible LED strip (e.g., RGB or non-dimmable).
  • Ensure total wattage of LED strip is within the dimmer's limits (360W for 12V, 720W for 24V).
  • Check and tighten all wiring connections.
  • Confirm LED strip is single-color and dimmable.
Dimmer makes a whistling sound.
  • This can sometimes occur with certain loads or at specific dimming levels due to the PWM frequency.
  • While often harmless, try adjusting the brightness slightly to see if the sound changes or disappears. If persistent and bothersome, consider the load or consult support.
Dimmer does not regulate brightness.
  • Incorrect wiring.
  • Faulty dimmer unit.
  • Incompatible LED strip.
  • Re-check all wiring connections, especially input and output.
  • Ensure the LED strip is a single-color, dimmable type.
  • If all else fails, the unit may be defective.
