5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Ancona gas range.

Daily Cleaning

  • Cooktop Surface: The black enamel base is designed for easy cleaning. Wipe spills immediately with a damp cloth and mild detergent once the surface has cooled.
  • Control Knobs: Remove knobs by pulling them straight off. Wash with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly before replacing.
  • Stainless Steel Surfaces: Use a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Always wipe in the direction of the grain to prevent scratching.

Deep Cleaning

  • Cast Iron Grates: The grates can be removed for cleaning. Wash with warm, soapy water. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive scrub brush can be used. Ensure they are completely dry before placing them back on the cooktop.
  • Oven Interior: For light spills, wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For heavier soil, use an oven cleaner specifically designed for self-cleaning ovens (follow product instructions carefully). Ensure the oven is cool before cleaning.
  • Oven Door Glass: Clean with a glass cleaner or warm, soapy water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could scratch the glass.

Maintenance Tips

  • Periodically check gas connections for leaks (use soapy water, not a flame).
  • Ensure burner ports are clear of debris for optimal flame performance. Use a small wire or needle to clear clogged ports if necessary.
  • Do not use aluminum foil to line the oven bottom or racks, as this can trap heat and damage the oven.
