1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the XTU Trail Camera. This high-performance digital trail camera is designed for outdoor use, featuring Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 32MP image resolution, 1296P video recording, and a rapid 0.2-second trigger speed. It is ideal for wildlife observation, hunting, and home security. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your camera to ensure optimal performance.

2. Safety Precautions

  • Do not immerse the camera in water, despite its IP66 waterproof rating. It is designed to withstand rain and snow, not submersion.
  • Use only recommended batteries (8 AA batteries). Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
  • Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed to maintain water resistance.
  • Keep the camera away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Handle the SD card with care. Insert and remove it gently to avoid damage.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the camera. This will void the warranty.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the camera's latch and swing open the back cover.
  2. Locate the battery compartment.
  3. Insert 8 new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment securely until the latch clicks.

4.2 SD Card Installation

  1. With the camera powered off, locate the SD card slot.
  2. Insert the provided 32GB SD card into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is inserted in the correct orientation.
  3. To remove, gently push the card in until it clicks, then release, and it will spring out.

4.3 Mounting the Camera

The camera can be mounted using the included strap or the adjustable bracket.

  • Using the Mounting Strap: Thread the strap through the slots on the back of the camera and secure it around a tree or pole.
  • Using the Adjustable Bracket: Attach the bracket to a wall or flat surface using the provided screws. Then, attach the camera to the bracket, adjusting the angle as needed.

5. Operating the Camera

5.1 Powering On/Off

Locate the power switch inside the camera. Slide it to the 'ON' position to power on the camera. Slide it to 'OFF' to power off.

5.2 Modes and Settings

The camera supports various modes and settings accessible via the internal LCD screen and buttons, or through the mobile application.

  • Photo Mode: Captures still images. Default resolution is 32MP.
  • Video Mode: Records video clips. Supports 1296P resolution.
  • Photo + Video Mode: Captures a still image followed by a video clip upon detection.
  • Trigger Speed: The camera boasts a fast 0.2-second trigger speed to capture quick movements.
  • Night Vision: Equipped with infrared LEDs for clear night vision up to 100 feet without spooking wildlife.
  • PIR Sensors: Three highly sensitive Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors provide a wide detection angle for comprehensive coverage.

5.3 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Connectivity (App Control)

The XTU Trail Camera can be controlled and media can be accessed wirelessly via a dedicated smartphone application.

  1. Download the App: Scan the QR codes below or visit the provided links to download the 'HuntingCampro' app for your Android or iOS device.
  2. Activate Bluetooth: On the camera, use the remote control or internal settings to activate Bluetooth.
  3. Connect via Bluetooth: Open the 'HuntingCampro' app on your smartphone. The app will use Bluetooth to discover and connect to your camera.
  4. Activate Wi-Fi: Once connected via Bluetooth, you can activate the camera's Wi-Fi through the app. This will allow for faster data transfer.
  5. Access Media: Through the Wi-Fi connection, you can view live footage, browse captured photos and videos, and download them directly to your phone.
  6. Adjust Settings: All camera settings can be conveniently adjusted via the app.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera lens and body. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Check: Regularly check battery levels, especially before extended deployment. Replace all batteries when low.
  • SD Card Management: Format the SD card periodically to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Back up important files before formatting.
  • Water Resistance: Ensure the camera's latches and seals are clean and properly closed to maintain its IP66 waterproof rating.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Camera Not Powering On:
    • Check battery polarity and ensure batteries are fully charged.
    • Ensure the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • No Photos/Videos Captured:
    • Verify the SD card is inserted correctly and has sufficient free space.
    • Check PIR sensor sensitivity settings. Adjust to a higher sensitivity if needed.
    • Ensure the camera is in the correct operating mode (Photo, Video, or Photo+Video).
  • Poor Night Vision Quality:
    • Ensure there are no obstructions in front of the infrared LEDs.
    • Check the distance to the subject; night vision range is up to 100 feet.
  • Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Connectivity Issues:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is activated on the camera and your smartphone.
    • Make sure you are within close proximity (20-30 feet) to the camera for initial connection.
    • Restart both the camera and your smartphone.
    • Ensure you have the latest version of the 'HuntingCampro' app installed.
  • Excessive Blank Images/Videos:
    • Reduce PIR sensor sensitivity to avoid triggers from wind-blown branches or small animals.
    • Adjust camera placement to minimize false triggers.
