The Homeleader SE-17E safe is designed with a reinforced solid steel wall structure and a thickened double-steel latch door for enhanced security. It features a digital electronic keypad for quick access and an emergency key for backup. The safe is suitable for securing valuables such as jewelry, money, documents, and small firearms in homes, offices, or during travel.
Safety Precautions
- Do not store emergency keys inside the safe. Keep them in a secure, separate location.
- Ensure the safe is securely mounted if intended for permanent installation to prevent unauthorized removal.

- Do not attempt to force the safe open if the battery is low or the code is forgotten. Use the emergency key.

Setup and Initial Operation
1. Installing Batteries
- Locate the battery compartment on the inside of the safe door.
- Insert four (4) AA batteries (not included) according to the polarity indicators.
- Close the battery compartment cover.

2. Opening the Safe for the First Time (Using Emergency Key)
- Locate the emergency keyhole, usually hidden behind a small cover on the keypad panel.
- Insert one of the provided emergency keys into the keyhole and turn it clockwise.
- While the key is turned, rotate the knob counter-clockwise to open the safe door.
- Remove the key once the safe is open.
3. Setting Your Personal Passcode
- With the safe door open, locate the red reset button on the inside of the door (near the battery compartment).
- Press the red reset button. The yellow indicator light on the keypad will illuminate.
- Within 5 seconds, enter your desired 3 to 8 digit passcode on the keypad.
- Press the "E" button to confirm. The yellow light will turn off, and a green light may flash, indicating successful programming.
- Test your new passcode with the door open before closing it.

Operating Instructions
Opening the Safe with Passcode
- Enter your 3 to 8 digit passcode on the keypad.
- Press the "E" button. The green indicator light will illuminate.
- Within 5 seconds, rotate the knob counter-clockwise to open the safe door.
Closing and Locking the Safe
- Close the safe door firmly.
- Rotate the knob clockwise to engage the locking bolts. The safe is now locked.
Emergency Key Override
If you forget your passcode or the batteries are depleted, you can use the emergency key to open the safe. Follow the steps outlined in "Opening the Safe for the First Time (Using Emergency Key)" above.
Security Features
- Incorrect Entry Lockout: After 3 consecutive incorrect passcode entries, the safe will enter a lockout period for 20 seconds. After 3 more incorrect entries, the lockout period extends to 5 minutes.
- Low Battery Warning: The red indicator light will illuminate when batteries are low, signaling that they need replacement.
Installation (Mounting)
The Homeleader safe is equipped with pre-drilled mounting holes on the back for secure installation to a wall or floor. This enhances security by preventing unauthorized removal of the safe.

- Choose a suitable location for mounting, ensuring it is a solid surface (e.g., concrete wall, wooden stud, or floor).
- Mark the drilling points through the pre-drilled holes on the back of the safe onto your chosen surface.
- Drill pilot holes at the marked points using an appropriate drill bit for your surface material.
- Align the safe with the drilled holes and insert the expansion bolts (provided) through the safe's holes and into the wall/floor.
- Tighten the bolts securely to fasten the safe in place.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the low battery warning appears. Use four (4) new AA batteries.
- Cleaning: Wipe the safe's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Keyhole Maintenance: Keep the emergency keyhole clean and free of obstructions.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check the locking mechanism and mounting bolts for any signs of wear or loosening.
