2. Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury. This includes:

  • Read all instructions before using the appliance.
  • Do not operate the robot vacuum in wet environments or near water.
  • Ensure the power adapter and charging dock are not damaged.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use without dust bin and/or filters in place.
  • Supervise children and pets when the robot is operating.
  • Only use manufacturer-specified attachments and replacement parts.

4. Product Overview

4.2 Auto-Emptying Station

The auto-emptying station automatically transfers collected dust and debris from the robot's dustbin into a sealed dust bag, minimizing manual intervention.

5. Setup

5.1 Initial Charging and Placement

  1. Unpack the robot vacuum and the auto-emptying station.
  2. Place the auto-emptying station against a wall in an open area, ensuring there are no obstacles within 1.5 meters in front and 0.5 meters to the sides.
  3. Connect the power cable to the station and plug it into a power outlet.
  4. Place the robot vacuum onto the charging contacts of the station. Ensure it is properly docked. The robot will begin charging. For first use, fully charge the robot.

5.2 Connecting to the Mi Home App

The Mi Home app allows for advanced control and customization of your robot vacuum.

  1. Download the "Mi Home" app from your smartphone's app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store).
  2. Register or log in to your Mi account.
  3. Open the app and tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
  4. Select the VIOMI Alpha 2 Pro from the list of available devices.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the robot to your home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. (Note: 5GHz Wi-Fi is not supported).
  6. Once connected, the robot will appear in your device list.

5.3 Initial Mapping

For optimal performance, allow the robot to complete a full mapping run of your home before setting specific cleaning tasks.

  • Ensure all doors are open to areas you want mapped.
  • Remove any large obstacles or loose cables from the floor.
  • Start a full cleaning cycle from the app. The robot will explore and create a detailed map.
  • Once the map is generated, you can edit rooms, set virtual walls, and define no-go zones within the Mi Home app.

6. Operating the Robot Vacuum

6.1 Cleaning Modes

The VIOMI Alpha 2 Pro supports various cleaning modes accessible via the Mi Home app:

  • Vacuuming Mode: Standard cleaning with adjustable suction power (e.g., Silent, Standard, Strong, Max 4000Pa).
  • Mopping Mode: Attach the mop pad holder and fill the water tank. The robot will mop the floor.
  • Vacuum & Mop Mode: Simultaneous vacuuming and mopping.
  • Spot Cleaning: Directs the robot to clean a specific small area.
  • Zone Cleaning: Define specific areas on the map for the robot to clean.
  • Scheduled Cleaning: Set specific times for the robot to clean designated areas.

6.2 Virtual Walls and No-Go Zones

Using the Mi Home app, you can define areas the robot should avoid:

  • Virtual Walls: Draw lines on the map to create invisible barriers.
  • No-Go Zones: Draw rectangular areas on the map that the robot will not enter.

6.3 Voice Control

The VIOMI Alpha 2 Pro supports voice control via Google Home and Amazon Alexa. Link your Mi Home account to these services and use commands like "Start cleaning" or "Go back to charge."

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your robot vacuum.

7.1 Emptying the Dust Bag

The auto-emptying station will automatically empty the robot's dustbin. Replace the dust bag in the station when it is full. The app may notify you when replacement is needed.

7.2 Cleaning Brushes and Filters

  • Main Brush: Periodically remove the main brush and clean off any tangled hair or debris using the cleaning tool provided.
  • Side Brushes: Check side brushes for wear and tear. Replace if damaged or excessively worn. Remove tangled hair.
  • Filters: Tap out dust from the HEPA filter and rinse the pre-filter if applicable. Allow to air dry completely before reinserting.

7.3 Cleaning Sensors and Charging Contacts

Wipe the Lidar sensor, anti-drop sensors, and charging contacts on both the robot and the station with a clean, dry cloth to ensure proper function.

8. Troubleshooting
