  • Do not operate the water heater if it is damaged or malfunctioning.
  • Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or repairs.
  • Keep children and pets away from the appliance during operation.
  • Do not block ventilation openings.

Setup and Installation

The Itho Daalderop Close-In water heater is designed for indoor installation, typically under a sink or in a cupboard. It is a wall-mounted unit.

1. Site Selection

  • Choose a location close to the point of use to minimize heat loss.
  • Ensure the wall can support the weight of the heater when full (approx. 10 kg + 10 litres = 20 kg).
  • Provide adequate clearance for ventilation and maintenance access.
  • The unit must be installed in an area not subject to freezing temperatures.

2. Mounting the Unit

  1. Mark the drilling points for the mounting bracket on the wall.
  2. Drill holes and insert appropriate wall plugs.
  3. Secure the mounting bracket firmly to the wall.
  4. Carefully lift the water heater and hang it onto the mounting bracket. Ensure it is level and securely seated.

3. Plumbing Connections

  • Connect the cold water supply to the inlet pipe (usually marked blue or with a 'C').
  • Connect the hot water outlet to the fixture (usually marked red or with an 'H').
  • Install a pressure relief valve on the cold water inlet, if not already integrated. Ensure proper drainage for the relief valve.
  • Open the hot water tap at the fixture to allow air to escape while the tank fills.
  • Once water flows steadily from the hot tap, close the tap. Check all connections for leaks.

4. Electrical Connection

  • Ensure the main power supply is OFF at the circuit breaker.
  • Connect the water heater to a dedicated electrical circuit as per local electrical codes. The unit operates at 2.3E+2 Volts (AC).
  • Verify all wiring connections are secure and correctly insulated.
  • Close the electrical access panel.

Operating Instructions

1. Initial Start-up

  1. Ensure the tank is completely filled with water (as per plumbing connection step).
  2. Turn on the main power supply to the water heater at the circuit breaker.
  3. The heater will begin to heat the water to the set temperature. This may take some time depending on the initial water temperature and the set point.

2. Temperature Adjustment

The water heater features a temperature control dial on the front panel. Rotate the dial to adjust the desired water temperature. The dial typically ranges from minimum to maximum settings. For energy efficiency and safety, it is recommended to set the temperature between 60°C and 65°C to prevent bacterial growth and scalding.

3. Normal Operation

The water heater will automatically maintain the set temperature. When hot water is drawn, cold water enters the tank, and the heating element activates to reheat the new water.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your water heater. Always disconnect power before maintenance.

1. Annual Inspection

  • Inspect the pressure relief valve: Manually open the valve briefly to ensure it is not seized and water flows freely.
  • Check for leaks: Visually inspect all plumbing connections for any signs of water leakage.
  • Examine electrical connections: Ensure all wiring is secure and free from corrosion.

2. Descaling (Every 1-3 Years, depending on water hardness)

Mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the tank and on the heating element, reducing efficiency. Consult a qualified technician for descaling procedures, especially for units with copper tubs.
