1. Safety Instructions

Always observe basic safety precautions when operating this power tool to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Retain these instructions for future reference.

General Safety

  • Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
  • Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators.
  • Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection for appropriate conditions. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
  • Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.

Sander Specific Safety

  • Secure the workpiece. Use clamps or a vise to hold the workpiece. This is safer than using your hand and frees both hands to operate the tool.
  • Always use the correct type and size of sanding belt or disc for the material being sanded.
  • Ensure the sanding belt or disc is properly installed and tensioned before operation.
  • Connect a dust extraction system to minimize dust exposure, especially when sanding wood or other materials that produce fine particles.
  • Never sand materials containing asbestos.
  • Do not wear gloves when operating the sander, as they can get caught in moving parts.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sander.

5.1 Cleaning

  • Always disconnect the power plug before cleaning.
  • Use a brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from the motor vents and sanding areas.
  • Wipe down external surfaces with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.

5.2 Abrasive Replacement

  • Replace sanding belts and discs when they become worn or clogged to maintain sanding efficiency and prevent damage to the workpiece.
  • Follow the installation steps outlined in Section 3.3 and 3.4.

5.3 Belt Tracking Adjustment

If the sanding belt drifts to one side during operation, adjust the belt tracking knob until the belt runs centrally on the rollers. This prevents premature wear of the belt and machine components.
