Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use and maintenance of your Meike MK-EFTR-C Metal Auto-Focus Mount Lens Adapter. This adapter allows the use of Canon EF/EF-S mount lenses on Canon EOS R series mirrorless cameras, including the EOS R, EOS RP, EOS R5, and EOS R6. It features electronic contacts for autofocus and image stabilization support, and includes a drop-in variable neutral density (VND) filter and a clear UV filter.
Product Overview
The Meike MK-EFTR-C adapter is designed to bridge the compatibility gap between Canon EF/EF-S lenses and Canon EOS R series cameras. Its robust metal construction ensures durability and resistance to dust and water splashes. A key feature is the integrated drop-in filter system, allowing for quick changes between the included variable ND filter (ND3 to ND500) and a clear UV filter.

Setup
Attaching the Adapter to Your Camera:
- Ensure both your camera and the adapter are powered off.
- Align the red dot on the adapter with the red dot on your Canon EOS R series camera body.
- Gently insert the adapter into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place. Do not force the adapter.
Attaching an EF/EF-S Lens to the Adapter:
- Align the red dot (for EF lenses) or white square (for EF-S lenses) on your EF/EF-S lens with the corresponding mark on the Meike adapter.
- Gently insert the lens into the adapter and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place.
Inserting/Changing Drop-in Filters:
- Locate the filter slot on the side of the adapter.
- Gently slide the desired filter (Variable ND or Clear UV) into the slot until it is fully seated. Ensure the filter is oriented correctly.
- To remove a filter, gently slide it out from the slot.

Operating Instructions
Autofocus and Image Stabilization:
The Meike MK-EFTR-C adapter maintains full electronic communication between your EF/EF-S lens and the Canon EOS R series camera. This means that lens autofocus (AF) and image stabilization (IS) functions will operate as they would on a native EF mount camera.
Note: Performance of AF and IS may vary slightly depending on the specific lens and camera model combination.
Using the Variable ND Filter:
The included variable neutral density (VND) filter allows you to control the amount of light entering the lens, which is particularly useful for shooting in bright conditions or achieving slower shutter speeds for motion blur effects. The adjustment range is from ND3 to ND500.
- With the VND filter inserted into the adapter, rotate the small dial on the side of the adapter to adjust the density.
- Rotate towards 'MIN' for less light reduction and towards 'MAX' for greater light reduction.
- Observe the live view or viewfinder to achieve the desired exposure.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Adapter and Filters:
- Adapter Body: Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to wipe the exterior of the adapter. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Electronic Contacts: If necessary, gently clean the electronic contacts on both the adapter and your lenses/camera with a clean, dry cotton swab. Do not touch the contacts with your fingers.
- Filters: Use a lens brush or air blower to remove dust. For smudges, use a lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optical glass and a clean microfiber lens cloth.
Storage:
When not in use, store the adapter with both front and rear caps attached in a dry, dust-free environment. Keep it away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Autofocus not working or slow | Poor connection between lens/adapter/camera; incompatible lens; low light conditions. | Ensure adapter and lens are securely mounted. Clean electronic contacts. Update camera firmware if available. Try in better lighting. |
| Image stabilization not functioning | Poor connection; IS switch on lens is off. | Check lens IS switch. Ensure secure connection. |
| Filter difficult to insert/remove | Incorrect orientation; debris in slot. | Ensure correct filter orientation. Check for and remove any debris from the filter slot. |
| VND filter causes "X" pattern or color shift | VND filter rotated to maximum density at wide angles. | Reduce the VND density setting. This is a common characteristic of variable ND filters at their maximum settings, especially with wide-angle lenses. |
