3. Safety Warnings

Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries require careful handling. Failure to follow these safety guidelines can result in fire, personal injury, and property damage.

  • Read Manual: Always read the safety manual provided with the battery and your charger before initial use.
  • Charger Type: Use only a Lithium Polymer (LiPo) specific balance charger. Do not use NiMH, NiCd, or other battery chargers.
  • Charge Rate: The charge rate should not exceed 1C. For a 6000mAh battery, 1C is 6 Amps. Charging at a higher rate can damage the battery and pose a fire risk.
  • Unattended Charging: Never charge the battery unattended. Always monitor the charging process.
  • Temperature: Do not charge or store batteries in extreme temperatures. Keep them away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials.
  • Physical Damage: Do not use a battery that is swollen, punctured, or otherwise damaged. Dispose of damaged batteries safely.
  • Short Circuit: Avoid short-circuiting the battery terminals.
  • Discharge: Do not over-discharge the battery below 3.0V per cell.

4. Setup

  1. Initial Inspection: Upon receiving your Zeee LiPo batteries, inspect them for any signs of damage (e.g., swelling, punctures, loose wires). Do not use damaged batteries.
  2. First Charge: Before first use, fully charge the battery using a compatible LiPo balance charger. Ensure the charger settings match the battery's specifications (11.1V, 3S, 6000mAh).
  3. Connecting to RC Model: Carefully connect the EC5 connector of the battery to the corresponding connector on your RC model. Ensure the connection is secure. Connect the balance lead to your model's balance port if available for monitoring.
  4. Secure Placement: Place the battery securely within your RC model's battery compartment to prevent movement during operation.

5. Operating Instructions

  • Pre-Flight/Run Check: Always perform a pre-flight or pre-run check to ensure all connections are secure and the battery is fully charged.
  • Monitor Voltage: Use a low-voltage alarm or telemetry system to monitor the battery voltage during operation. Stop using the battery when any cell reaches 3.5V to 3.7V under load to prevent over-discharge.
  • Avoid Over-Discharge: Never discharge the battery below 3.0V per cell. Over-discharging can permanently damage the battery and make it unsafe to recharge.
  • Temperature Management: If the battery becomes excessively hot during use, stop operation immediately and allow it to cool down before further use or charging.
  • Post-Use: After use, allow the battery to cool down before recharging.

6. Maintenance

  • Storage Voltage: For long-term storage, charge or discharge the battery to its storage voltage (typically 3.8V to 3.85V per cell).
  • Storage Location: Store batteries in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and flammable materials. A LiPo-safe bag is recommended.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect batteries for any signs of damage or swelling.
  • Balance Charging: Always use a balance charger to ensure all cells are charged equally, which helps maintain battery health and longevity.
  • Disposal: Dispose of damaged or old LiPo batteries responsibly according to local regulations. Never throw them in household trash.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Battery Not Charging:
    • Ensure the charger is correctly connected and powered.
    • Verify the charger settings match the battery type (LiPo) and cell count (3S).
    • Check for any damage to the battery's main or balance connectors.
  • Reduced Run Time/Power:
    • The battery may be aging or has been over-discharged.
    • Ensure the battery is fully charged and balanced before use.
    • Check for proper connections in your RC model.
  • Battery Swelling:
    • Immediately discontinue use and charging.
    • Swelling indicates internal damage and a significant safety risk.
    • Safely dispose of the swollen battery according to local regulations.
