Installation Guide

The HuTools DKS01 lock is designed for simple DIY installation and fits most standard American doors. A screwdriver is the only tool required.

1. Prepare the Door

Ensure your door meets the specified dimensions for thickness and hole diameter. The lock is reversible and works with both left and right-handed doors.

2. Install the Latch

  1. Insert the latch into the door edge. Ensure the deadbolt faces the correct direction (beveled edge towards the door frame).
  2. Secure the latch with the provided screws.
  3. Adjust the backset if necessary by twisting the latch mechanism to switch between 2-3/8 inches and 2-3/4 inches.

3. Install the Exterior Keypad Assembly

  1. Feed the cable from the exterior keypad through the door hole, under the latch.
  2. Align the exterior keypad with the door hole and ensure the deadbolt spindle passes through the latch mechanism.

4. Install the Interior Mounting Plate

  1. Route the cable from the exterior keypad through the rectangular opening in the interior mounting plate.
  2. Secure the interior mounting plate to the exterior keypad assembly using the long mounting screws.

5. Install the Interior Assembly

  1. Connect the cable from the exterior keypad to the port on the interior assembly.
  2. Align the interior assembly with the mounting plate, ensuring the thumb turn spindle engages with the latch mechanism.
  3. Secure the interior assembly to the mounting plate using the short screws.

6. Install Batteries

  1. Remove the battery cover on the interior assembly.
  2. Insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  3. Replace the battery cover.

7. Test the Lock

Before closing the door, test the deadbolt operation using the thumb turn on the interior assembly and the key from the exterior. Ensure smooth movement.

The lock supports up to 20 customizable user codes (4 to 10 digits).

  1. Change Master Code: Press the Program Button (located on the interior assembly) once. Enter the current Master Code, then press #. Enter the new Master Code (4-10 digits), then press #. Repeat the new Master Code, then press #.
  2. Add User Code: Press the Program Button once. Enter the Master Code, then press #. Press 1, then press #. Enter the new User Code (4-10 digits), then press #. Repeat the new User Code, then press #.
  3. Delete User Code: Press the Program Button once. Enter the Master Code, then press #. Press 2, then press #. Enter the User Code to delete, then press #.
  4. Add One-Time User Code: Press the Program Button once. Enter the Master Code, then press #. Press 3, then press #. Enter the new One-Time User Code, then press #. This code will expire after one use.

Advanced Features

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The lock is powered by 4 AA alkaline batteries. A low battery indicator (flashing red lights) will alert you when batteries are getting low. Replace all four batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.

  1. Remove the battery cover on the interior assembly.
  2. Remove all old batteries.
  3. Insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery cover.

Note: Using non-alkaline batteries or mixing old and new batteries may affect performance and battery life.

Cleaning

Clean the lock's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.

Troubleshooting

Lock does not respond to keypad entry.
  • Batteries are dead or low. Replace all 4 AA batteries.
  • Incorrect code entered. Ensure correct code and press #.
  • Lock is in Away Mode. Enter Master Code to deactivate.
  • Keypad disabled due to too many incorrect attempts (10 attempts). Wait 30 seconds or use key.
Deadbolt does not extend/retract fully.
  • Batteries are low. Replace batteries.
  • Door frame strike plate is misaligned. Adjust strike plate.
  • Deadbolt mechanism is obstructed. Check for debris in the door frame.
Cannot program new codes.
  • Incorrect Master Code used. Verify Master Code.
  • Programming sequence error. Follow instructions carefully.
  • Batteries are low. Replace batteries.
Lock beeps constantly.
  • Low battery warning. Replace batteries.
  • Possible internal malfunction. Contact customer support.
Keypad numbers are not lighting up.
  • Batteries are dead or low. Replace batteries.
  • Internal connection issue. Contact customer support.
