2. Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions could result in property damage or personal injury.

  • Always turn off the main water supply before beginning any installation or maintenance.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
  • If you are unsure about any part of the installation process, consult a qualified plumber.
  • The faucet requires batteries for touchless operation. Ensure batteries are installed correctly and replaced when necessary to maintain functionality.
  • Keep the sensor area clear of obstructions to prevent unintended activation.

3. Setup and Installation

This faucet is designed for single-hole deck mount installation. It can be installed with or without the included deck plate.

Required Tools (Not Included):

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Plumber's putty or silicone sealant
  • Flashlight
  • Bucket
  • Towels

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Sink: Turn off the water supply at the main shut-off valves. Clear the area under the sink. Remove any existing faucet.
  2. Install Deck Plate (Optional): If using the deck plate, apply plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the underside edge of the deck plate and place it over the sink holes.
  3. Mount the Faucet: Insert the faucet body through the center hole in the sink (and deck plate, if used). From underneath the sink, secure the faucet with the provided mounting hardware (washer and mounting nut). Tighten securely.
  4. Connect Water Supply Lines: Connect the hot and cold water supply lines from the faucet to your home's hot and cold water valves. Ensure connections are tight but do not overtighten.
  5. Install Soap Dispenser: Insert the soap dispenser through its designated hole. Secure from underneath with the provided nut. Fill with liquid soap.
  6. Install Battery Pack: The touchless feature requires power. Install the specified batteries into the battery pack. Secure the battery pack in an accessible location under the sink, away from direct water exposure.
  7. Connect Sensor Cable: Connect the sensor cable from the faucet to the control box/battery pack.
  8. Test for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check all connections for leaks. Run the faucet (both manual and touchless) to ensure proper operation and flush out any debris.

4. Operating Instructions

The Moen MotionSense Wave faucet offers both touchless and manual operation.

4.1 Touchless Activation (MotionSense Wave)

  • To activate water flow, wave your hand approximately 1-2 inches in front of the sensor located on the side of the faucet base.
  • Wave your hand again to turn off the water.
  • The water temperature for touchless activation is set by the position of the manual handle. Adjust the handle to your desired temperature before using the touchless feature.
  • The touchless feature will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve water and battery life.

4.2 Manual Operation

  • To operate manually, use the single handle on the side of the faucet.
  • Lift the handle to turn on the water and control flow rate.
  • Move the handle left for hot water and right for cold water.
  • Push the handle down to turn off the water.

4.3 Pulldown Spray Wand

  • Gently pull down the spray wand from the faucet spout.
  • Press the button on the spray wand to switch between stream and Power Clean spray modes.
  • When finished, guide the spray wand back into the spout. The Reflex system ensures it docks securely.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your faucet.

5.1 Cleaning the Faucet

  • The Spot Resist Stainless finish is designed to resist fingerprints and water spots.
  • Clean the faucet regularly with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.
  • For stubborn water spots, a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water can be used, followed by rinsing and drying.

5.2 Battery Replacement

  • The touchless feature is powered by batteries located in a battery pack under the sink.
  • When batteries are low, the faucet may exhibit reduced sensor responsiveness or a chirping sound.
  • To replace batteries, locate the battery pack, open it, and replace all old batteries with new ones of the specified type (typically AA or D batteries, refer to the battery pack for exact type).
  • Ensure correct polarity when inserting new batteries.
  • After replacing batteries, the system may need a moment to reset.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your faucet, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Water Flow (Touchless):
    • Check if the manual handle is in the OFF position.
    • Ensure the water supply valves are fully open.
    • Verify that the battery pack has fresh batteries and is properly connected.
    • Clean the sensor area to ensure no obstructions.
  • No Water Flow (Manual):
    • Check if the main water supply is on.
    • Ensure the hot and cold water supply lines are not kinked or blocked.
  • Weak Water Pressure:
    • Check if the aerator is clogged. Unscrew the aerator from the spray wand and clean any debris.
    • Ensure water supply valves are fully open.
  • Flickering or Unintended Activation:
    • Ensure the sensor area is clean and free from reflective surfaces or objects.
    • Avoid placing objects too close to the sensor.
  • Chirping Sound:
    • This typically indicates low batteries. Replace the batteries in the battery pack.
  • Spray Wand Does Not Retract Fully:
    • Check for obstructions under the sink that might be interfering with the hose and weight.
    • Ensure the weight on the hose is positioned correctly.

If problems persist after troubleshooting, contact Moen customer support.
