5. Operation
5.1 Basic Measurement Steps
- Remove the protective cap from the electrode.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water and gently blot dry with a clean tissue.
- Immerse the electrode into the solution to be tested, ensuring the immersion line is covered.
- Gently stir the solution and wait for the reading to stabilize on the LCD display.
- The display will show pH, TDS/EC, and Temperature readings simultaneously.
- After measurement, rinse the electrode with distilled water and replace the protective cap.
5.2 Button Functions
- ON/OFF: Press to turn the device on or off.
- HOLD/TEMP:
- Short press: Hold the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
- Long press: Switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) for temperature display.
- MODE/CAL:
- Short press: Cycle through different measurement modes (e.g., pH, TDS, EC).
- Long press: Enter calibration mode (refer to Section 6 for detailed calibration instructions).
5.3 YINMIK App Features
The YINMIK app provides enhanced control and data management capabilities.
- Real-time Data Display: View all parameters (pH, TDS, EC, Temp) simultaneously on your phone.
- Data Synchronization: Measured data is synchronized to the app, allowing for convenient viewing and analysis without frequent operation of the meter itself.
- Data Hold and Save: Use the "Hold Reading" and "Save Reading" functions within the app to capture and store data.
- Cloud-Based Data Management: Easily save, manage, and share test data, preventing data loss.
- Customizable Settings:
- Backlight Control: Control the backlight of the tester's display via the app.
- Parameter Limits: Set upper and lower limits for pH and EC. If a measurement exceeds these limits, the value will display in red on the app interface, alerting you to abnormal readings.
- Auto-Save Interval: Configure the interval for automatic data saving.

6. Calibration
Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your measurements. The BLE-9908 supports a 5-point pH calibration method and comes with calibration powders for both Asia Standard (pH 4.00, 6.86, 9.18) and EU Standard (pH 7.00, 10.01).
6.1 pH Calibration
- Prepare the calibration buffer solutions (e.g., pH 4.00, pH 6.86, pH 9.18 for Asia Standard). Ensure the buffer solutions are at room temperature.
- Turn on the tester and rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Long press the MODE/CAL button to enter calibration mode. The display will show "CAL".
- Immerse the electrode into the first buffer solution (e.g., pH 6.86). The tester will automatically recognize the buffer and begin calibration. Wait for the reading to stabilize and confirm.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Immerse the electrode into the second buffer solution (e.g., pH 4.00). The tester will again recognize and calibrate.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Immerse the electrode into the third buffer solution (e.g., pH 9.18).
- Repeat for any additional calibration points as needed. The app can guide you through the 5-point calibration process.
- Once all desired points are calibrated, the tester will automatically exit calibration mode, or you can short press MODE/CAL to exit.
Note: Always calibrate with fresh buffer solutions. Discard used buffer solutions after calibration.
6.2 EC/TDS Calibration
EC/TDS calibration typically uses a single point standard solution (e.g., 1413 µS/cm).
- Prepare the EC standard solution (e.g., 1413 µS/cm).
- Turn on the tester and rinse the electrode with distilled water.
- Long press the MODE/CAL button to enter calibration mode.
- Short press MODE/CAL to cycle to the EC calibration option.
- Immerse the electrode into the EC standard solution. The tester will automatically recognize the buffer and begin calibration.
- Wait for the reading to stabilize and confirm the calibration.
- Rinse the electrode with distilled water and exit calibration mode.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Electrode Cleaning
- After each use, rinse the electrode thoroughly with distilled or deionized water to remove any residue.
- For stubborn contaminants, soak the electrode in a mild cleaning solution (e.g., electrode cleaning solution or a dilute detergent solution) for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- Never scrub the glass bulb of the pH electrode, as this can damage it.
7.2 Storage
- Always replace the protective cap after use.
- For optimal performance and longevity of the pH electrode, keep the electrode moist. Add a few drops of KCL storage solution or pH 4.00 buffer solution to the protective cap before replacing it. Never store in distilled water.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7.3 Battery Replacement
- When the battery indicator on the display shows low power, replace the batteries promptly.
- Refer to Section 4.1 for battery installation instructions.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate readings | Electrode is dirty; Calibration is needed; Electrode is dry or damaged. | Clean the electrode (Section 7.1); Perform calibration (Section 6); Rehydrate electrode in storage solution or replace if damaged. |
| No display/Device won't turn on | Low or dead batteries; Incorrect battery installation. | Replace batteries (Section 7.3); Check battery polarity. |
| Bluetooth connection issues | Bluetooth not enabled on phone; App not open; Device too far from phone; Interference. | Ensure Bluetooth is on; Open YINMIK app; Move device closer to phone; Restart both device and app. |
| Readings fluctuate excessively | Air bubbles on electrode; Insufficient immersion; Contaminated sample. | Gently tap the electrode to dislodge bubbles; Ensure electrode is immersed past the immersion line; Use a clean sample. |
