1. Introduction

The Donner SE-1 Digital Piano is an 88-key instrument designed to simulate the feel and sound of an acoustic grand piano. It features graded hammer action weighted keys, a variety of tones and rhythms, and connectivity options including Bluetooth and MIDI. This manual provides instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your digital piano.

2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the instrument. Retain this manual for future reference.

  • Power Supply: Use only the specified power adapter. Ensure the voltage matches the requirements of your region.
  • Water and Moisture: Do not expose the instrument to water or excessive moisture. Avoid placing liquids on or near the piano.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the instrument. Do not block ventilation openings.

4. Setup

Follow these steps to assemble your Donner SE-1 Digital Piano and stand.

4.1 Stand Assembly

The wooden stand requires assembly. Ensure you have all necessary screws and tools before beginning. Refer to the installation video for a visual guide.

  1. Unpack all stand components and hardware.
  2. Attach the side panels to the crossbars using the provided screws.
  3. Secure the pedal unit to the designated area on the stand's base using the appropriate screws.
  4. Ensure all connections are tight and the stand is stable.

4.2 Attaching the Piano Unit

Once the stand is assembled, carefully place the SE-1 digital piano unit onto the stand. Align the mounting points on the piano with the stand. Secure the piano to the stand using the thumb screws or other fasteners provided.

4.3 Connecting Peripherals

  • Pedal Unit: Connect the cable from the three-pedal unit to the 'PEDAL' input on the piano's rear panel.
  • Power Adapter: Connect the power adapter to the 'DC 12V' input and then to a power outlet.
  • Headphones: Plug the headphones into the 3.5mm or 6.35mm headphone jack.

5. Basic Operation

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the POWER button located on the control panel to turn the piano on or off. The LCD screen will illuminate upon power-on.

5.2 Volume Adjustment

Rotate the VOLUME knob clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it.

5.3 Tone Selection

The SE-1 includes 200 tones. To select a tone:

  1. Press the TONE button.
  2. Use the +/- buttons to scroll through the available tones. The selected tone number will be displayed on the LCD screen.
  3. The dual-tone mode allows combining two voices. Refer to the full manual for detailed instructions on activating and adjusting dual-tone settings.

5.4 Rhythm Selection

The piano offers 100 rhythms. To select a rhythm:

  1. Press the RHYTHM button.
  2. Use the +/- buttons to scroll through the available rhythms.
  3. Press START/STOP to begin or end the rhythm playback.

5.5 Metronome

To activate the metronome, press the METRONOME button. Press it again to turn it off. Adjust the tempo using the TEMPO buttons.

5.6 Graded Hammer Action Keys

The 88 full-size weighted keys simulate the feel of an acoustic piano, with heavier resistance in the lower register and lighter resistance in the higher register. This design allows for expressive playing and dynamic control.

5.7 Three-Pedal Unit

The included three-pedal unit provides standard piano pedal functions:

  • Right Pedal (Sustain): Sustains notes.
  • Middle Pedal (Sostenuto): Sustains only notes held down at the moment the pedal is pressed.
  • Left Pedal (Soft): Softens the sound.

6. Advanced Features

6.1 Bluetooth Connectivity

The SE-1 supports wireless Bluetooth connectivity for audio streaming and MIDI functions. This allows connection to compatible apps for learning or recording.

  1. Activate Bluetooth on your external device (smartphone, tablet).
  2. Select "Donner SE-1" from the list of available devices to pair.
  3. Once connected, you can stream audio to the piano's speakers or use MIDI over Bluetooth with compatible applications.

6.2 MIDI IN/OUT

The piano features MIDI IN/OUT ports for connecting to other MIDI devices or a computer via USB. This enables recording, sequencing, and using the piano as a MIDI controller.

  • MIDI IN: Receives MIDI data from an external device.
  • MIDI OUT: Sends MIDI data to an external device.
  • USB MIDI: Connect the piano to a computer using a USB cable for MIDI communication. Drivers may be required depending on your operating system.

6.3 Recording Function

The SE-1 includes a recording function to capture your performances. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual for steps on how to record, playback, and manage your recordings.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your digital piano:

  • Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water and mild soap, then wipe dry immediately.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish.
  • Clean the keys with a soft cloth. For white keys, use a slightly damp cloth. For black keys, use a dry cloth.

7.2 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the piano in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations. Consider using a dust cover to protect the keys and control panel.

8. Troubleshooting
