2. What's in the Box

Upon unboxing your Easythreed K1 Mini 3D Printer, please ensure all the following components are present:

  • Easythreed K1 Mini 3D Printer Unit
  • Power Adapter
  • User Manual (this document)
  • Test PLA Filament (small quantity)
  • TF Card (includes assembly video, sample files, and software)

3. Setup and Assembly

The Easythreed K1 Mini 3D Printer is designed for quick and easy assembly, typically taking around 5 minutes. It consists of three main parts that need to be connected.

3.1 Initial Assembly

  1. Carefully remove all packaging materials.
  2. Connect the main components as indicated in the assembly video provided on the TF card.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure before proceeding.

3.2 Filament Loading

The printer uses 1.75mm PLA or TPU filament. To load filament:

  1. Place the filament spool onto the designated holder.
  2. Gently feed the filament into the extruder's input hole until it catches.
  3. Use the 'Feed' button on the printer's control panel to automatically draw the filament into the nozzle. Wait until molten filament extrudes from the nozzle, indicating it's ready.

4. Operating Instructions

Operating the Easythreed K1 is straightforward with its intuitive controls.

4.1 Bed Leveling (Crucial Step)

Proper bed leveling is the most critical step for successful prints.

  1. Press the 'Home' button on the control panel. The print head will automatically move to its home (zero) position.
  2. Once the nozzle touches the magnetic plate, immediately disconnect the power. This prevents the nozzle from pressing too hard.
  3. Adjust the distance between the nozzle and the magnetic plate at four points (A, B, C, D) on the build platform. The correct distance should be approximately the thickness of a single piece of paper.
  4. If the nozzle is too close, it can damage the magnetic plate. If it's too far, the print will not adhere.

4.2 Printing Your First Model

  1. Ensure the TF card with your desired model file is inserted into the printer's TF card slot. The printer will print the latest model file if multiple are present.
  2. Press the 'Start Printing' button. The printer will begin heating the nozzle and then commence printing.
  3. Monitor the initial layers to ensure proper adhesion to the build plate.
  4. Once printing is complete, wait for the print to cool down before carefully removing it from the removable magnetic plate. The flexible plate makes removal easy.

4.3 Software and Slicing

The printer comes with its own design and slicing software on the supplied TF card. For more advanced users, Ultimaker Cura is recommended, and a profile file for import is provided.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your 3D printer.

  • Clean the Nozzle: Periodically clean any filament residue from the nozzle using a soft brush or cloth.
  • Clean the Build Plate: After each print, ensure the magnetic build plate is clean and free of debris.
  • Tighten Screws: Due to vibrations during printing, screws may loosen over time. Periodically check and tighten all screws, especially on the frame and moving parts.
  • Store Filament Properly: Store filament in a dry, cool place to prevent moisture absorption, which can affect print quality.

6. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Print not sticking to bedImproper bed leveling, dirty build plate, incorrect print settings (e.g., first layer height)Re-level the bed carefully (refer to Section 4.1), clean the build plate, adjust first layer settings in slicing software.
No filament extrusionNozzle clogged, filament tangled, incorrect temperatureClear nozzle clog, untangle filament, ensure correct printing temperature for PLA (typically 180-210°C).
Poor print quality (layers separating, rough surface)Incorrect temperature, print speed too high, filament quality, loose componentsAdjust temperature, reduce print speed, try new filament, check and tighten screws.
Printer making unusual noisesLoose screws, worn bearings, fan issuesCheck and tighten all screws, inspect moving parts for obstruction or wear.
