1. Introduction

The CUSP CarPlay AI Box is designed to enhance your in-car entertainment and navigation experience by adding a full Android system to your vehicle's OEM factory radio with wired CarPlay. This device offers seamless integration, allowing you to access wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and various multimedia applications directly on your car's display.

Key features include an 8-core Qualcomm chip, 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM for smooth performance, built-in 4G/5G WiFi, integrated GPS, and support for phone mirroring and split-screen functions. It is a plug-and-play solution that does not require dismantling your original car stereo.

2. Package Contents

Upon opening the package, please verify that all components are present:

3. Setup and Installation

The CUSP CarPlay AI Box is designed for simple plug-and-play installation. Ensure your vehicle has an OEM factory radio with wired CarPlay functionality.

3.1 Connection Steps

  1. Locate the OEM CarPlay USB port in your vehicle.
  2. Connect the provided USB cable to the CUSP CarPlay AI Box.
  3. Plug the other end of the USB cable into your car's CarPlay USB port. If your car's CarPlay port is Type-C, use the included Type-C adapter.
  4. The device will automatically recognize the resolution of your original car screen and restart.
  5. After restarting, the Android system will automatically connect.

3.2 Initial Setup and Bluetooth Pairing (for non-touch screens)

If your original car radio does not have a capacitive touch screen, you will need to use a CUSP remote control (if included) for navigation. Pair the Bluetooth remote control with the car head unit.

  • Press and hold the "Next Song" and "Volume Reduction" keys on the remote for 2 seconds to activate pairing mode.
  • The indicator light will flash to search for the flying mouse Bluetooth.
  • Once paired, the Bluetooth icon will appear on the top toolbar of the screen.

For Bluetooth phone calls and music, pair your mobile phone with the car head unit via Bluetooth. This system retains the original car's central control operation functions, including steering wheel controls and voice commands.

4. Operating Instructions

Once connected, the CUSP CarPlay AI Box transforms your car's display into an Android interface, allowing access to a wide range of applications and features.

4.1 Navigating the Android System

  • Tap the CarPlay icon on your car's original screen to enter the Android system.
  • The interface can be swiped from left to right or right to left to navigate between screens.
  • Press the "Home" icon to return to the main menu from any interface.

4.2 Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto

The device upgrades your factory wired CarPlay and Android Auto to wireless functionality.

  • For Wireless CarPlay: Turn on Bluetooth on your iPhone. Pair your iPhone's Bluetooth with the car head unit. Once connected, CarPlay will launch wirelessly.
  • For Wireless Android Auto: Turn on Bluetooth on your Android mobile phone. Pair your mobile phone's Bluetooth with the car head unit. Once connected, Android Auto will launch wirelessly.

4.3 Multimedia Playback

The CUSP CarPlay AI Box supports various multimedia applications, including YouTube and Netflix, and allows playback of internal or external media files.

  • Video Playback: Click the "Video" icon in the main menu to enter the video playback interface. Supports formats like H.263, P3, etc.
  • Audio Playback: Click the "Audio" icon in the main menu to enter the audio playback interface. Supports formats like WMA, MP3, etc.
  • Streaming Apps: Access pre-installed apps like YouTube and Netflix. Ensure the device is connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot (e.g., from your phone or a dedicated SIM card) for streaming content.

4.4 Navigation

Equipped with an integrated GPS module, the device provides precise online and offline navigation. It supports factory GPS systems on some Audi, Porsche, and Volvo vehicles without needing a separate GPS antenna.

  • Access navigation apps like Google Maps or Igo Map from the main menu.
  • The split-screen function allows you to run navigation alongside other applications simultaneously.

4.5 Split Screen Functionality

Enjoy multitasking by running two applications simultaneously on the screen. This is particularly useful for navigation while playing music or watching videos.

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or excessive moisture.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device when in use.
  • Periodically check for software updates from CUSP to ensure the best performance and compatibility.
  • Handle the USB cable and connectors with care to prevent damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CUSP CarPlay AI Box, please refer to the following troubleshooting steps:
