Setup
1. Initial Charging (Eco-Drive)
Your watch is powered by light. Before first use, expose the watch dial to bright light (natural sunlight or fluorescent lamp) for several hours to ensure it is fully charged. A fully charged watch can operate for an extended period in the dark.
- Charging Indicator: Some models may have a power reserve indicator. Refer to the specific module guide for details.
- Avoid Overheating: Do not place the watch too close to a light source, as it may overheat and cause damage.
2. Setting the Time Zone (Direct Flight)
The Direct Flight function allows you to quickly set the time zone.
- Pull the crown out to the first position. The second hand will move to indicate the current city code.
- Rotate the crown to align the second hand with your desired city code on the dial.
- Push the crown back into the normal position. The hour and minute hands will automatically adjust to the time of the selected city.
3. Radio Signal Reception
Your watch automatically receives time signals from transmitters in Japan, China, Europe, and North America to maintain accurate time. Manual reception can also be initiated.
- Automatic Reception: The watch attempts to receive signals daily, typically in the early morning hours.
- Manual Reception: To initiate manual reception, pull the crown out to the first position, then press and hold the lower button (if present) for a few seconds until the second hand indicates the reception status.
- Best Reception: For optimal reception, place the watch near a window, away from electronic devices, with the 12 o'clock position facing the signal source.
Operating
Basic Timekeeping
Once set up, your watch will display the current time and date. The radio-controlled function ensures accuracy by synchronizing with atomic clocks.
Changing Time Zones
As described in the setup section, use the Direct Flight function by pulling the crown to the first position and rotating it to select a new city code. The watch will instantly display the time and calendar for that location.

Date Adjustment
The calendar function is automatically updated via radio signal reception. If manual adjustment is needed (e.g., after a long period without signal), refer to the detailed module guide for your specific movement. Generally, pulling the crown to the second position allows for manual date adjustment.
Maintenance
Cleaning Instructions
To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
Water Resistance
Your watch is water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM). This means it is suitable for daily use, such as hand washing, rain, and splashes. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Ensure the crown is pushed in completely to maintain water resistance.
Eco-Drive Power Care
As an Eco-Drive watch, it requires regular exposure to light to remain charged. If the watch is stored in darkness for extended periods, it may stop. Expose it to light to restart and recharge. The watch has a power-saving function that stops the hands when in prolonged darkness, but the internal timekeeping continues.
Leather Strap Care
The leather strap is susceptible to damage from water, sweat, and direct sunlight. Wipe off moisture and sweat promptly. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and deterioration. If the strap becomes stiff or cracked, consider replacing it.
Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: Ensure the watch is sufficiently charged by exposing it to bright light for several hours. If it still doesn't run, it may require a full reset or service.
- Time Not Syncing: Check if the watch is in an area with good radio signal reception. Avoid placing it near electronic devices or in concrete buildings during reception attempts. Try initiating manual reception.
- Incorrect Time/Date: After ensuring proper signal reception, if the time or date is still incorrect, perform a full reset of the watch. Refer to the specific module guide for your watch for detailed reset procedures.
- Hands Misaligned: Strong impacts or magnetic fields can sometimes cause hand misalignment. A manual hand position correction may be necessary. Consult your watch's specific module guide for instructions.
If problems persist after attempting these solutions, please contact CITIZEN customer support or an authorized service center.
