3.2 Winding the Watch

Your Gevril Chambers watch is an automatic timepiece, meaning it is powered by the motion of your wrist. If the watch has stopped or is running low on power, it can be manually wound:

  1. Unscrew the crown by turning it counter-clockwise until it springs free.
  2. In position 1 (crown unscrewed and pushed in), turn the crown clockwise approximately 20-30 times. This will provide enough power reserve to start the watch.
  3. Push the crown back in and screw it down clockwise to ensure water resistance.

3.3 Setting the Time and Date

To set the time and date:

  1. Unscrew the crown by turning it counter-clockwise.
  2. Pull the crown out to position 2 (first click) to set the date. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the correct date is displayed. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  3. Pull the crown out to position 3 (second click) to set the time. Turn the crown to move the hands clockwise until the correct time is displayed. Ensure you differentiate between AM and PM when setting the date.
  4. Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into position 1 and screw it down clockwise firmly to maintain water resistance.

4. Operating Your Watch

4.1 Automatic Movement

The Gevril Chambers watch is powered by a Swiss automatic movement (Sellita SW200). This movement is self-winding, meaning it gains power from the natural motion of your wrist. When fully wound, it has a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it will stop and require manual winding as described in Section 3.2.

4.2 Rotating Bezel

The unidirectional rotating bezel can be used to measure elapsed time, particularly useful for diving or timing events. To use:

  1. Align the zero marker on the bezel with the minute hand at the start of the event.
  2. Read the elapsed time on the bezel as the minute hand progresses.

4.3 Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant up to 200 meters (20 ATM / 660 feet). This makes it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and recreational diving. Ensure the crown is always fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water. Do not operate the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.

5. Care and Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your watch:

  • Wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth regularly.
  • For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush and mild soapy water, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water (only if the crown is fully screwed down) and dry immediately.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

5.2 Avoiding Extreme Conditions

To protect your watch:

  • Avoid extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F).
  • Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields, which can affect the accuracy of the mechanical movement.
  • Avoid sudden impacts or shocks.

5.3 Regular Servicing

Like any precision instrument, your automatic watch benefits from regular servicing every 3-5 years by an authorized watchmaker to ensure optimal performance and water resistance.
