2. Setup Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filter: Remove the PUR Plus filter from its packaging. Submerge the filter in cold water for 15 minutes to prime it. This helps remove air bubbles and prepares the filter for optimal performance.
  2. Wash the Pitcher: Wash the pitcher, lid, and filter housing with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly. The pitcher is dishwasher safe (top rack only).
  3. Insert the Filter: Insert the prepared filter into the filter housing. Twist it clockwise to lock it securely in place.
  4. Assemble the Pitcher: Place the filter housing with the installed filter into the pitcher. Secure the lid onto the pitcher.
  5. Initial Flush: Fill the pitcher with tap water. Discard the first two pitchers of filtered water. This flushes out any carbon dust from the filter.

    • Green Light: Filter is working optimally.
    • Yellow Light: Filter needs to be replaced soon.
    • Red Light: Filter needs to be replaced immediately.

4. Maintenance

  1. Cleaning: The pitcher, lid, and filter housing are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). For manual cleaning, use mild soap and water. Ensure the filter change indicator mechanism on the lid does not get wet during washing.
  2. Filter Replacement: Replace the PUR Plus filter every 40 gallons or approximately every 2 months, whichever comes first. Always use genuine PUR filters for certified performance. Look for the "PUR Genuine Filter" seal.
  3. Resetting the Filter Indicator: After replacing the filter, press and hold the filter gauge button for 5 seconds to reset the indicator. The light will turn green.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Slow Filtration: If water filters slowly, ensure the filter was properly primed by soaking it in cold water for 15 minutes before first use. Air bubbles can sometimes impede flow; try gently shaking the pitcher to dislodge them. If the filter is old, it may be clogged and require replacement.
  • Filter Indicator Not Working: Ensure the battery in the lid's indicator is functional. If the light does not respond after pressing the button, the battery may need replacement (refer to specific instructions for battery access, if applicable, or contact support).
  • Unusual Water Taste: If the filtered water has an unusual taste, ensure the filter was properly flushed by discarding the first two pitchers of filtered water. If the taste persists, the filter may be expired or faulty and should be replaced.
