4. Installation
Follow these steps to replace the bobbin case in your Riccar 3600 sewing machine:
- Disconnect Power: Ensure your sewing machine is unplugged from the electrical outlet.
- Open Bobbin Compartment: Locate and open the bobbin compartment cover on your sewing machine. This is typically found beneath the needle plate.
- Remove Old Bobbin Case: Carefully remove the existing bobbin case. If a bobbin is inside, remove it first. Note the orientation of the old bobbin case as you remove it.
- Insert New Bobbin Case: Take the new UpStart Components Bobbin Case. Hold it by the latch and insert it into the bobbin compartment, ensuring it is seated correctly. The small finger or extension on the bobbin case should align with the notch in the bobbin housing.
- Secure in Place: Gently push the bobbin case until it clicks or sits firmly in its position. It should not wobble.
- Close Compartment: Close the bobbin compartment cover.

5. Operation
After installation, the bobbin case is ready for use. Follow your sewing machine's specific instructions for threading and bobbin winding.
5.1. Loading the Bobbin
- Wind Bobbin: Wind a bobbin with your desired thread according to your sewing machine's instructions.
- Insert Bobbin: Hold the bobbin case with the latch open. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case. Ensure the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise when viewed from the top, but refer to your machine's manual).
- Thread Through Tension Spring: Guide the bobbin thread through the slot under the tension spring on the side of the bobbin case. Pull the thread gently to ensure it moves smoothly and has appropriate tension.
- Close Latch: Close the latch on the bobbin case.
- Reinsert into Machine: Reinsert the loaded bobbin case into the bobbin compartment of your sewing machine, following the steps outlined in Section 4.
