3. Setup

Before first use, follow these steps:

1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Dispose of packaging materials responsibly.
2. Clean Removable Parts: Wash the glass carafe, its lid, and the filter holder with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry. These parts are also dishwasher safe.
3. Position Appliance: Place the coffee maker on a dry, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the appliance for ventilation.
4. Initial Rinse Cycle:
   • Fill the water tank to the 'MAX' level with fresh, cold water.
   • Place an empty size 4 paper filter into the filter holder.
   • Place the empty glass carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
   • Run a full brewing cycle without adding coffee grounds.
   • Discard the water from the carafe. This process cleans the internal components and removes any manufacturing residues.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to brew coffee:

1. Fill Water Tank: Open the water tank lid and fill the tank with fresh, cold water up to the desired number of cups. The maximum capacity is 1.5 liters (12 cups). Do not exceed the 'MAX' mark.

2. Insert Filter: Place a size 4 paper filter into the filter holder.
3. Add Coffee Grounds: Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the paper filter. A general recommendation is 7-8 grams of medium-ground coffee per 125ml cup, but adjust to your taste.
4. Position Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe with its lid is securely placed on the warming plate beneath the filter holder.
5. Start Brewing: Plug in the appliance. Use the rotary knob on the control panel to select your desired settings if applicable (e.g., timer). Press the start button (often integrated into the knob) to begin the brewing process. The coffee maker will initiate a pre-infusion (blooming) phase and utilize its degassing function to optimize flavor extraction.

6. Warming Function: Once brewing is complete, the warming plate will automatically activate to keep your coffee hot for up to 40 minutes. The integrated timer on the display will show how long the coffee has been kept warm.
7. Serve: Carefully remove the carafe from the warming plate to pour and serve your freshly brewed coffee.

Daily Cleaning

• Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
• Remove and discard the used coffee filter and grounds.
• Wash the glass carafe, its lid, and the filter holder in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are dishwasher safe.
• Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
• Never immerse the main unit in water or other liquids.

Descaling

Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Your ZWILLING ENFINIGY coffee maker features an intelligent descaling function that will indicate when descaling is necessary.

• When the descaling indicator illuminates on the display, it is time to descale the appliance.
• Use a descaling solution specifically designed for coffee makers. Follow the instructions provided by the descaling solution manufacturer.
• Typically, the process involves:
  1. Filling the water tank with the descaling solution (diluted as per instructions).
  2. Running a partial brew cycle to allow the solution to fill the internal components, then pausing for a recommended time.
  3. Completing the brew cycle.
  4. Running several full cycles with fresh, clean water to thoroughly rinse the appliance and remove any residual descaling solution.
