7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your water heater. It is recommended to have the unit inspected by a qualified technician annually.
- Anode Rod Inspection: The BIO-glasslined tanks include anode rods for corrosion protection. These should be inspected and replaced as needed, typically every 1-2 years, depending on water quality.
- Descaling: In areas with hard water, mineral deposits (limescale) can accumulate on heating elements and tank surfaces, reducing efficiency. Periodic descaling may be necessary.
- Pressure Relief Valve Check: Manually operate the pressure relief valve at least once a year to ensure it is not blocked and functions correctly. Follow manufacturer guidelines for this procedure.
- External Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Thermex water heater, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps. For complex problems, contact a qualified technician.
- No Hot Water:
- Check if the unit is powered on and the circuit breaker has not tripped.
- Ensure the temperature setting is appropriate.
- Verify water supply is open.
- Insufficient Hot Water:
- The demand for hot water may exceed the unit's capacity. Allow more time for reheating.
- Consider activating the 2 kW rapid heating mode.
- Check for excessive limescale buildup (requires professional inspection).
- Water Leaks:
- Immediately turn off the water supply and electrical power.
- Inspect connections for tightness.
- If the leak is from the tank itself, contact support.
- Unusual Noises:
- Popping or rumbling sounds can indicate sediment buildup in the tank. Professional descaling may be required.
