3. Setup and First Use

Follow these steps to set up your grinder for the first time:

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Clean: Before first use, wash the bean hopper, grinding chamber, and their lids with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. The main unit should be wiped with a damp cloth.
  3. Assemble:
    • Place the grinding chamber onto the base, ensuring it is securely seated.
    • Align the scale on the bean hopper with the "Λ" mark on the grinder base and lower it vertically.
    • Rotate the bean hopper counterclockwise to the "▲" mark until it clicks into place. This secures the hopper and allows beans to feed into the burrs.
    • Place the lid on top of the bean hopper.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the grinder into a standard 120V electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

Operating your binROC coffee grinder is simple and intuitive:

  1. Add Coffee Beans: Pour whole coffee beans into the bean hopper. Do not overfill.
  2. Select Grind Setting: Rotate the bean hopper to choose your desired grind setting. The grinder offers 48 settings, categorized for different brewing methods:
    • Espresso (Fine): Settings 1-16
    • Drip/Pour Over (Medium): Settings 17-32
    • French Press (Coarse): Settings 33-48

  3. Select Cup Quantity: Use the buttons on the LED display to select the number of cups you wish to grind (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 cups). The selected quantity will illuminate.

  4. Start Grinding: Press the central "Start/Stop" button to begin grinding. The grinder will automatically stop once the selected quantity is achieved.
  5. Remove Ground Coffee: Once grinding is complete, carefully remove the grinding chamber from the base.

Important Note: For optimal performance and to prevent clogging, ensure the bean hopper is properly aligned and clicked into place before operation. If the grinder does not start, check that all components are correctly assembled and secured.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures consistent performance and extends the life of your grinder. The anti-static design minimizes mess, but routine cleaning is still recommended.

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the grinder from the power outlet before cleaning.
  2. Empty Grinding Chamber: Remove the grinding chamber and empty any remaining coffee grounds.

  3. Remove Burr: To remove the upper burr, locate the "lock" symbol near the burr disc. Turn it counterclockwise to the "unlock" symbol until you hear a "bang" sound. Then, remove the burr vertically with force.

  4. Clean Burrs and Chamber: Use the included cleaning brush to remove any residual coffee grounds from both the upper and lower burrs, as well as the grinding chamber. The patented inside brushes help with precision cleaning.

  5. Wipe Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the grinder with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
  6. Reassemble: Once all parts are clean and dry, reassemble the burr and other components in reverse order.

Note: It is recommended to clean the burrs after every few uses, especially when changing grind settings or coffee bean types, to ensure consistent flavor and prevent buildup.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your binROC coffee grinder, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Try adding a very small drop of water to the whole beans before grinding (ensure beans are dry before adding to hopper).
  • Alternatively, gently stir the ground coffee in the chamber with a metal spoon to dissipate static.

  • Unplug the grinder and let it cool down for at least 30 minutes.
