1. Introduction and Overview

The ETT Eco Tech Time EGS-11487-22L is a sophisticated men's watch combining a classic design with advanced solar and radio-controlled technology. This watch is designed to provide precise timekeeping without the need for battery changes, thanks to its Solar Drive movement and automatic radio signal synchronization.

Key Features:

  • Solar Drive Movement: Utilizes light energy for power, eliminating the need for conventional battery replacement.
  • Radio-Controlled Time: Automatically synchronizes with the DCF 77 signal (Mainflingen, Germany) for exceptional accuracy.
  • Automatic Time Adjustment: Features automatic summer and winter time changes.
  • Perpetual Calendar: Automatically adjusts for varying month lengths and leap years.
  • Water Resistance: Rated up to 5 ATM (50 meters), suitable for everyday use and light water exposure.
  • Luminous Elements: Hands and digits are luminous for visibility in low light conditions.
  • Low Energy Display & Sleep Function: Power-saving features to extend operational life.

2. Initial Setup

Upon receiving your ETT Eco Tech Time watch, it may be in a low power state or require initial synchronization. Follow these steps to prepare your watch for use:

  1. Initial Charging: Place the watch in a well-lit area, preferably under natural sunlight or strong artificial light, for several hours. Ensure the dial is exposed to the light source. This will charge the internal solar cell.
  2. Automatic Time Synchronization: The watch is designed to automatically receive the DCF 77 radio signal. For optimal reception, place the watch near a window, away from electronic devices that may cause interference. The watch will attempt to synchronize daily, typically during the night.
  3. Manual Signal Reception (if needed): If the watch does not synchronize automatically after sufficient charging, you may initiate a manual signal reception. Refer to the 'Operating Instructions' section for details on using the control buttons.

3. Operating Instructions

Your ETT Eco Tech Time watch is largely self-sufficient due to its solar and radio-controlled features. However, understanding its functions will enhance your experience.

3.1 Time and Date Display

  • The watch features an analog display for hours, minutes, and seconds.
  • A digital display shows the date.
  • The perpetual calendar function ensures the date is always correct, including adjustments for leap years.

3.2 Radio Signal Reception

The watch automatically attempts to receive the DCF 77 signal daily to ensure precise time. If you suspect the time is incorrect or wish to force a synchronization:

  • Manual Reception: Press and hold the designated button (refer to specific button functions in your watch's detailed manual, typically one of the side pushers) for approximately 3-5 seconds. The watch hands may move to indicate it is searching for the signal.
  • Reception Indicator: Some models may have an indicator (e.g., a small hand or digital display segment) to show the success or failure of the last reception.

3.3 Automatic Summer/Winter Time Change

The radio-controlled function automatically adjusts the watch for daylight saving time (summer time) and standard time (winter time) changes, eliminating the need for manual adjustment.

3.4 Low Energy Display and Sleep Function

  • When the watch's internal power reserve is low, a low energy indicator may appear (e.g., the second hand moving in 2-second intervals).
  • If left in darkness for an extended period, the watch may enter a 'sleep' mode to conserve power. The hands will stop, but the internal timekeeping continues. Upon exposure to light, the hands will quickly advance to the correct time.

4. Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ETT Eco Tech Time watch.

4.1 Solar Charging

  • Regularly expose the watch dial to light. Even when not worn, store it in a location where it can receive ambient light.
  • Avoid prolonged storage in complete darkness, as this can deplete the power reserve and cause the watch to stop or enter sleep mode.

4.2 Water Resistance (5 ATM / 50 Meters)

  • The watch is resistant to splashes, rain, and brief immersion in water.
  • It is not suitable for swimming, diving, or showering, as steam and direct water pressure can compromise the seals.
  • Do not operate the crown or pushers when the watch is wet or submerged.

4.3 Cleaning

  • Wipe the watch case and mineral glass with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture. Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then dry thoroughly. Leather conditioners can help maintain its flexibility.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your watch, consider the following common solutions:

  • Watch Not Running / Hands Stopped:
Ensure the watch has received sufficient light exposure. Place it under strong light for several hours to recharge the solar cell. If the watch was in sleep mode, it should resume normal operation once exposed to light.
  • Incorrect Time / Date:
Verify that the watch is receiving the DCF 77 radio signal. Place the watch near a window, away from potential interference sources (e.g., computers, televisions). Initiate a manual signal reception if necessary (refer to Section 3.2). Ensure you are within the signal's reception range.
  • Low Power Indicator Active:
This indicates the internal power reserve is low. Expose the watch to light for an extended period to fully charge it.
  • Water Inside Watch:
If moisture appears inside the watch, immediately take it to an authorized service center. Do not attempt to open the watch yourself.
