1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the balance from its packaging. Place the balance on a firm, level, and stable surface. Ensure the location is free from drafts, direct sunlight, heat sources, and vibrations that could affect weighing accuracy.

4.2 Assembly

  1. Place the stainless steel weighing pan onto the pan support.
  2. If your model includes a draft shield (typically for 128x128 mm pans), carefully assemble it around the weighing pan according to the diagrams in the quick start guide.

4.3 Power Connection

Connect the supplied power adapter to the balance's power input port, then plug it into a suitable electrical outlet. The balance will typically perform a self-test upon initial power-up.

4.4 Internal Calibration

The PS 6000.R2 features automatic internal adjustment. This system monitors temperature changes and time flow to ensure consistent accuracy. For optimal performance, allow the balance to warm up for at least 30 minutes after connecting power before performing critical measurements. The balance will perform internal calibration automatically as needed.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Weighing

  1. Press the ON/OFF button to power on the balance.
  2. Wait for the display to show "0.000g" or the selected unit.
  3. To zero the balance (set the current weight to zero), press the ZERO button.
  4. To tare the balance (subtract the weight of a container), place the empty container on the pan and press the TARE button. The display will show "0.000g".
  5. Place the item to be weighed onto the pan. Read the stable weight displayed on the LCD.

5.2 Unit Selection

Press the UNIT button to cycle through available weighing units (e.g., grams, milligrams, pounds, ounces). The currently selected unit will be indicated on the LCD display.

5.3 LCD Display Features

The new LCD display provides a clear presentation of weighing results and includes a text information line. This line can show additional messages, such as product names or tare values, enhancing user interaction and data management.

5.4 Communication Interfaces

The PS 6000.R2 balance is equipped with multiple communication interfaces for data transfer and peripheral connectivity:

  • 2 x RS 232: For connecting to printers, computers, or other serial devices.
  • Type A USB: For connecting USB storage devices or other USB peripherals.
  • Type B USB: For connecting the balance directly to a computer for data logging or software control.
  • Optional Wireless Module: Allows for wireless communication, such as connecting to a Wi-Fi printer.

5.5 Under Hook Weighing

The PS 6000.R2 balance supports under hook weighing, which is useful for weighing items that cannot be placed on the pan, such as large or magnetic samples. To use this feature, locate the hook attachment point on the underside of the balance. Suspend the item securely from this hook. Ensure the item does not touch the floor or any other surface during weighing.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regular cleaning helps maintain the accuracy and longevity of your balance. Disconnect the power adapter before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth with a mild detergent to clean the housing and weighing pan. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no liquid enters the balance housing.

6.2 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the balance in a dry, dust-free environment at room temperature. Keep the weighing pan clean and protected.

6.3 Routine Calibration Checks
