2. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Tadeto CGD02A Natural Gas Detector:
- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the back of the device. Insert three AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely. A small screwdriver is included for convenience.
- Remove Protective Film: Carefully remove any protective plastic film from the LCD screen and the sensor head. The sensor head has a saran wrap covering that must be removed for proper gas detection.
- Power On: Press and hold the power button (⏻) to turn on the device.
- Initial Calibration: The detector will initiate a 30-second countdown for preheating and self-calibration. During this time, ensure the device is in a fresh air environment, free from any gas or strong odors, to establish an accurate zero reading.

3. Operating Instructions
Once calibrated, the detector is ready for use. The 2.6-inch LCD screen will display real-time gas concentration values and other relevant information.
Button Functions:
- Power Button (⏻): Press and hold to turn the device on or off.
- ZERO Button: Press to re-calibrate the device to zero in a fresh air environment. This ensures accurate readings.
- PPM/%LEL Button: Toggles between Parts Per Million (PPM) and Lower Explosive Limit (%LEL) measurement modes.
- APO Button: Activates or deactivates the Automatic Power Off function. When active, the device will shut down after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
- °C/°F Button: Switches the temperature display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
Gas Detection:
- Extend the 12-inch flexible gooseneck sensor probe towards the suspected area of a gas leak.
- Observe the gas concentration readings on the LCD screen. The display will show the current gas level in either PPM or %LEL, depending on the selected mode.
- Alarm Indication: When gas concentration exceeds a preset threshold (e.g., 10000 PPM or 20% LEL), the device will trigger an audible alarm (80 dB buzzer) and a visual alarm (red indicator on the screen) to alert you to a dangerous situation.

4. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your Tadeto CGD02A detector.
- Sensor Care: Keep the catalytic combustion sensor clean and free from dust, debris, or liquids. Avoid touching the sensor directly.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the three AAA batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the LCD screen. Always use fresh, high-quality batteries.
- Cleaning: Wipe the device's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the detector in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your detector, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- No Reading or Inaccurate Reading:
- Ensure the protective saran wrap from the sensor head has been removed.
- Verify that the device was calibrated in a fresh air environment. If not, move to a clean area and press the ZERO button.
- Check battery levels and replace if necessary.
- False Alarms:
- The detector is highly sensitive and can react to other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or strong odors (e.g., alcohol, paint fumes, cleaning products). Ensure the area is free from such substances.
- Recalibrate the device in a known fresh air environment.
- Device Not Turning On:
- Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
- Ensure the power button is pressed and held for a few seconds.
