1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your SUNPOW MD04 Metal Detector and MD01 Pinpointer. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure optimal performance and safety.

2. What's in the Box

Your SUNPOW Metal Detector MD04 and Pinpointer MD01 combo package includes the following components:

  • 1 x Earphone

3. Setup

3.1. MD04 Metal Detector Assembly

  1. Attach the search coil to the lower stem using the provided bolt and nut.
  2. Connect the lower stem to the middle stem, and then connect the middle stem to the upper stem (control box assembly). Ensure all connections are secure.
  3. Wrap the search coil cable around the stem, ensuring it is not too tight, and plug the connector into the corresponding port on the control box.
  4. Adjust the stem length to a comfortable height using the adjustable steam mechanism (36.2" to 47.2").
  5. Secure the armrest to the upper stem.

3.2. Battery Installation

The MD04 Metal Detector requires 2 batteries, and the MD01 Pinpointer requires 1 x 9V battery. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. SUNPOW MD04 Metal Detector Operation

The MD04 features an intuitive LCD display and multiple detection modes for various treasure hunting scenarios.

Key Indicators and Buttons:

  • Menu Indicator: Shows the currently selected menu option.
  • Target Digital: Displays the numerical ID of the detected target.
  • Target ID: Visual representation of the target type (e.g., coin, foil).
  • Low Batt Indicator: Alerts when batteries are low.
  • Coin Depth Indicator: Estimates the depth of the detected coin.
  • MENU Button: Navigates through menu options (NOTCH, DISC, VOLUME, SENS).
  • POWER Button: Turns the detector on/off.
  • PIN POINT Button: Activates pinpoint mode for precise target location.
  • + / - Buttons: Adjust settings (e.g., sensitivity, volume, discrimination levels).

Detection Modes:

  • All Metal Mode: Detects all types of metal. Signals you on every occasion it detects any metal.

  • Disc Mode: Allows elimination of unwanted targets. 5 targets can be eliminated in sequence: bottle cap, foil, 5¢, pull tab, 1¢.

  • Notch Mode: Freely discriminate against specific categories of targets, such as foil, 5¢, pull tab, and 1¢.

  • PP Mode (Pinpoint Mode): Pinpoints the exact location of the target metal.

  • Volume Mode: Adjusts the sound level. If the sound of the target is detected to be too small, you can adjust the sound (up to 10 levels). The target value of the low tone is 1-19, the middle tone is 20-59, and the high tone is 60-99.

Target Indication Digital Value:

The MD04 provides a digital value to help identify the type of metal detected:

  • 0-19: Bottle Cap
  • 20-29: Foil
  • 30-39:
  • 40-49: Pull Tab
  • 50-59:
  • 60-69: 10¢
  • 70-79: 25¢
  • 80-99: >25¢

4.2. SUNPOW MD01 Pinpointer Operation

The MD01 Pinpointer is designed for precise target location once a general area has been identified by the main metal detector.

  • One Touch Switch: Simple operation to turn on/off.
  • LED Flashlight: Illuminates the target area.
  • Battery Cover: For battery compartment access.
  • Portable Chain Buckle: For easy attachment and carrying.
  • Pinpoint Tip: The primary detection point.
  • IP68 Waterproof: Fully submersible for underwater detection.
  • 360° Side Scan Detection Area: Expands the detection area for quicker target acquisition.

Detection Modes:

The MD01 Pinpointer offers three distinct modes for various environments:

  • Vibration Mode (Silent): Provides haptic feedback when a target is detected, ideal for quiet environments or when discretion is required.
  • Audio Mode: Emits an audible tone when a target is detected.
  • Vibration And Audio Mode: Combines both haptic and audible alerts for comprehensive feedback.

The MD01 Pinpointer can detect targets up to 4.5 inches deep, providing high depth detection for small objects.

5. Maintenance

  • After each use, especially in wet or sandy conditions, wipe down the metal detector and pinpointer with a damp cloth.
  • Ensure the search coil and pinpointer tip are free of dirt and debris.
  • For the MD01 Pinpointer, ensure the battery cover is securely fastened after use in water to maintain its waterproof integrity.
  • Store the devices in the provided carrying bag in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Remove batteries if the devices will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

6. Troubleshooting
