Setup

1. Placement

Position the DVD player on a stable, flat surface with adequate ventilation. Place the two satellite speakers equidistant from your primary listening position, ideally at ear level. The subwoofer can be placed on the floor, preferably in a corner or near a wall for enhanced bass response.

2. Connections

Ensure all components are powered off before making any connections.

  • Speaker Connection: Connect the two satellite speakers to the corresponding speaker outputs on the DVD player unit. Connect the subwoofer to the dedicated subwoofer output.
  • Video Output to TV: Choose one of the following video connection methods to your television:
    • Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr): For best video quality, connect the Y, Pb, and Pr output jacks on the DVD player to the corresponding input jacks on your TV using a component video cable.
    • S-Video: Connect the S-Video output jack on the DVD player to the S-Video input on your TV.
    • Composite Video: Connect the VIDEO output jack on the DVD player to the VIDEO input on your TV using an RCA video cable (yellow connector).
  • Audio Output to External Audio System (Optional): If connecting to an external amplifier or receiver, use the Coaxial Digital Audio output or the RCA 2.1 channel audio output.
  • Power Connection: Once all audio and video connections are made, connect the power cord of the DVD player to a standard AC power outlet.

Operating

1. Power On/Off

Press the POWER button on the front panel of the DVD player or on the remote control to turn the system on or off.

2. DVD Playback

  1. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the front panel or remote to open the disc tray.
  2. Place a DVD or CD disc gently into the tray with the label side facing up.
  3. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the tray. The disc will begin playing automatically or display the disc menu.
  4. Use the PLAY/PAUSE, STOP, REV, FWD, PREV, and NEXT buttons on the remote control to manage playback.

3. Audio Control

Use the VOL + and VOL - buttons on the remote control to adjust the overall volume. Press the MUTE button to temporarily silence the audio.

4. Remote Control Functions

The included remote control provides full functionality for your home theater system. Familiarize yourself with the button layout and their corresponding functions.

  • POWER: Turns the unit on/off.
  • OPEN/CLOSE: Opens and closes the disc tray.
  • MUTE: Mutes/unmutes the sound.
  • OSD: Displays On-Screen Display menu.
  • SUBTITLE: Selects subtitle language.
  • LANGUAGE: Selects audio language.
  • REPEAT: Repeats current track/chapter/title.
  • ANGLE: Changes camera angle (for compatible DVDs).
  • ZOOM: Zooms in/out on the picture.
  • SETUP: Accesses the system setup menu.
  • Navigation Buttons (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, ENTER): Used for menu navigation and selection.
  • MENU/PBC: Accesses disc menu or Playback Control.
  • TITLE: Returns to the disc title menu.
  • PLAY/PAUSE: Starts or pauses playback.
  • STOP: Stops playback.
  • RETURN: Returns to the previous menu or screen.
  • REV/FWD: Fast reverse/forward playback.
  • PREV/NEXT: Skips to previous/next track or chapter.
  • VOL +/-: Adjusts volume level.
  • PROG: Programs playback order.
  • DVD/FM: Switches between DVD and FM radio mode (if applicable).
  • RESET: Resets system settings.

Maintenance

Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Naxa ND-863 system.

  • Cleaning the Unit: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the DVD player and speakers. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Disc Care: Handle discs by their edges. Keep discs clean and free of scratches. Store discs in their cases when not in use.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the DVD player has adequate ventilation. Do not block ventilation openings or place the unit on soft surfaces that may impede airflow.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight, or dusty environments.
