3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Donner DEK-510 keyboard:

  1. Power Connection: Connect the included power adapter to the DC 9V input jack on the rear panel of the keyboard and plug it into a standard wall outlet. Alternatively, for portable use, insert six (6) D-type 1.5V batteries into the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard.
  2. Music Stand Installation: Insert the music stand into the designated slot at the top rear of the keyboard.
  3. Microphone Connection: Plug the microphone into the 'MIC' input jack on the rear panel.
  4. Headphones/Sustain Pedal (Optional): If desired, connect headphones to the 'PHONES' jack or a sustain pedal to the 'PEDAL' jack on the rear panel.
  5. Power On: Press the power button located on the left side of the control panel to turn on the keyboard.

4. Operating Controls

The control panel of the DEK-510 keyboard features various buttons and a large LED screen for easy navigation and function selection.

  • Power Button: Turns the keyboard on or off.
  • Main Volume Control: Adjusts the overall output volume of the keyboard.
  • ACMP Volume Control: Adjusts the volume of the accompaniment.
  • Voice Buttons: Selects from 500 different instrument tones.
  • Style Buttons: Selects from 300 different rhythm styles.
  • Numeric Keypad: Used to input specific voice or style numbers.
  • LED Screen: Displays current settings, selected voice/style, and teaching mode information.
  • Record/Playback Buttons: Initiates recording and plays back recorded performances.
  • MP3 Control: Manages MP3 playback from a USB drive.

5. Key Functions

5.1 Voice and Style Selection

The DEK-510 offers 500 tones (voices) and 300 rhythms (styles) to enhance your playing. Refer to the labels on the keyboard's panel for corresponding numeric codes.

  • Press the 'VOICE' button, then use the numeric keypad to enter the desired voice code.
  • Press the 'STYLE' button, then use the numeric keypad to enter the desired rhythm style code.

5.2 Recording and Playback

The keyboard allows you to record your performances and play them back.

  1. To start recording, press the 'RECORD' button. The LED screen will indicate that recording is active.
  2. Play your desired piece.
  3. To stop recording, press the 'RECORD' button again or the 'PLAYBACK' button.
  4. To play back your recorded performance, press the 'PLAYBACK' button.

5.3 MP3 Playback

You can play MP3 files directly from a USB flash drive.

  1. Connect a USB flash drive containing MP3 files to the USB port on the back of the keyboard.
  2. Use the 'MP3 CONTROL' buttons (Play/Pause, Previous, Next) to navigate and play your music.
  3. Adjust the volume of MP3 playback using the dedicated volume controls.

5.4 Teaching Modes

The DEK-510 features three teaching modes designed for beginners, along with access to online courses via the Donner Music App.

  • Utilize the 'TEACHING' buttons on the control panel to select between the available modes.
  • Download the Donner Music App from your device's app store for exclusive online piano teaching courses.

5.5 Other Features

The keyboard includes additional functions for creative expression:

  • Vibrato: Adds a pulsating effect to the sound.
  • Sustain: Prolongs the sound of notes.
  • Transpose: Shifts the pitch of the keyboard up or down.
  • Auto Chord: Generates chords automatically based on single-finger input.
  • Dual Voice: Layers two different instrument voices simultaneously.
  • Split Keyboard: Divides the keyboard into two sections, each with a different voice.

6. Connectivity

The rear panel of the DEK-510 provides various ports for external connections:

  • USB MIDI: Connects to a computer or tablet for MIDI data transfer, allowing use with teaching apps or music editing software.
  • PEDAL: Input for an external sustain pedal (3.5mm jack).
  • AUX OUT: Audio output for connecting to external speakers or amplifiers.
  • AUX IN: Audio input for connecting external audio devices (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone).
  • MIC: Input for the included microphone.
  • PHONES: Output for headphones, allowing for private practice.
  • DC 9V: Power adapter input.

7. Power Supply

The Donner DEK-510 keyboard offers flexible power options:

  • AC Power: Use the provided AC power adapter for continuous operation.
  • Battery Power: For portability, the keyboard can be powered by six (6) D-type 1.5V batteries (not included). This allows for playing in locations without access to a power outlet.
