3. Setup Guide

3.1. Device Overview

3.2. Powering On/Off

1. To power on the device, press and hold the Power button located on the side until the screen illuminates.
2. To power off, press and hold the Power button until a power-off menu appears, then select 'Power Off'.

3.3. Initial Language Selection

Upon first use or after a factory reset, you will be prompted to select your preferred system language. Follow the on-screen instructions.

3.4. Wi-Fi Connection

1. From the main screen, swipe down from the top to access the quick settings panel.
2. Tap the Wi-Fi icon to enable Wi-Fi.
3. Select your desired Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password if prompted.
4. Once connected, the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar will indicate a successful connection.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Voice Translation (Online & Offline)

The DoDoDuck 1 supports two-way voice translation using dedicated buttons for seamless conversation.

1. On the main translation screen, select your native language on one side and the target language on the other.
2. To speak, press and hold the 'Me' button (left side) and speak clearly into the microphone. Release the button when finished. The device will translate your speech into the target language.
3. For the other person to speak, they should press and hold the 'Other' button (right side) and speak. The device will translate their speech into your native language.
4. For offline translation, ensure you have downloaded the necessary language packs. The device supports 12 offline languages.

4.2. Photo Translation

Translate text from images using the built-in camera.

1. From the main menu, tap on the 'Photo Translate' icon.
2. Point the device's rear camera at the text you wish to translate.
3. Tap the capture button on the screen. The device will scan the text and display the translation.
4. The device supports visual translation in 43 languages.

4.3. Audio Recording & Transcription

Record conversations and transcribe them into text for later review and translation.

1. Tap the 'Recording' icon from the main menu.
2. Select the source and target languages for transcription.
3. Tap the microphone icon to start recording. The device can record up to 1 hour of audio.
4. The recorded audio will be automatically converted to text, which can then be translated into any of the 107 supported languages.

4.4. Simultaneous Interpretation

Engage in real-time, continuous interpretation of conversations without needing to press buttons repeatedly.

1. Select 'Simultaneous Interpretation' from the main menu.
2. Choose the two languages for interpretation.
3. The device will automatically detect who is speaking and translate their words in real-time, displaying the text on screen.

4.5. Learning Modes (English/Chinese Study)

Improve your pronunciation and language skills with built-in study tools.

1. Access 'English Study' or 'Chinese Study' from the main menu.
2. Select a module or unit to begin.
3. Follow the prompts to practice pronunciation. The device will provide feedback on your accuracy.

4.6. Input Translation

For situations where voice input is not ideal, you can type text for translation.

1. Tap 'Input Translation' from the main menu.
2. Use the on-screen keyboard to type your text.
3. The translation will appear on the screen. You can also tap to hear the translated text spoken aloud.

4.7. Favorites

Save frequently used phrases or important translations for quick access.

1. During any translation, long-press on the translated text you wish to save.
2. Select 'Favorites' from the pop-up menu.
3. To access your saved phrases, tap the 'Favorites' icon from the main menu.

5.1. Charging the Battery

The device is equipped with a 1500 mAh polymer battery. Use the provided Micro-USB cable to charge the device. Connect the cable to the Micro-USB port on the top of the device and the other end to a compatible USB power adapter or computer USB port.

5.2. Cleaning

To clean the device, gently wipe the screen and body with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays, as these may damage the device's surface or internal components.
