2.1 Unboxing and Component Check

2.2 Wiring Instructions

Follow the wiring diagram carefully to connect the VESC 4.12 to your motor, battery, and receiver.

  1. Motor Connection: Connect the three phase wires from the motor to the VESC. Ensure these connections are properly insulated.
  2. Hall Sensor Connection: If your motor has hall sensors, connect the hall sensor cable from the motor to the VESC's hall sensor port.
  3. Anti-Spark Switch: Connect the anti-spark switch between the battery and the VESC.
  4. Battery Connection: Connect the battery to the anti-spark switch, then to the VESC.
  5. Receiver Connection: Connect your PPM receiver to the VESC, typically to Channel 1.

The VESC 4.12 requires configuration using the VESC Tool software. This process involves connecting the VESC to a computer via USB and running setup wizards.

    • Set current limits (e.g., Motor Current Max 60A, Battery Current Max 60A).
    • Configure battery cutoff voltage (e.g., for 10 cells, set start to 34.00V and end to 31.00V).
    • Choose 'Hall Sensors' if your motor has them, then run the detection.
    • Apply the detected parameters.
  4. App Setup Wizard: Proceed to the 'App Setup Wizard' for input configuration.
    • Select 'PPM input' for conventional RC receivers.
    • Perform PPM mapping by moving your remote's throttle to its minimum, center, and maximum positions to calibrate the pulse length.
    • Apply the settings.
  5. Disconnect: Always disconnect the VESC from the VESC Tool software before unplugging the USB cable.
