01 Introduction
(VX5 Remote)
The VX5 Remote is a handheld controller designed for electric skateboards and surfboards. It features a 2-inch display screen, a throttle trigger, a brake trigger, a power button, a mode button, a horn button, a setting button, and a USB magnetic charging port.
Display Screen Icon Introduction:
- Number of GPS Positioning Satellites: Indicates the strength of the GPS signal.
- Turn on the riding record mode: Icon to enable ride data recording.
- Receiver signal quality: A bar graph showing the strength of the connection to the receiver.
- Surfingboard Battery: Displays the battery level of the connected electric surfboard.
- Surfing Mode: Indicates the current operating mode (e.g., Surfing Mode).
- Speed Gear: Shows the selected speed gear (e.g., L for Low, M for Medium, H for High).
- Remote Battery: Displays the battery level of the VX5 remote itself.
- Throttle Auto-locking Time: Setting for when the throttle automatically locks.
- Throttle Progress Bar: A visual indicator of the current throttle input.
- Realtime Speed: Displays the current speed of the device.
- Total distance: The total distance covered during use.
- Average Speed: The average speed recorded for the current trip.
- Max Speed: The highest speed achieved during the current trip.
- Riding Time: The duration of the current ride session.
(VX5 Receiver)
The VX5 Receiver is a compact electronic module that connects to the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller). It features an antenna for signal transmission and an LED signal light indicating its status.
02 Wiring Diagram
PPM Control Mode
This mode uses the Pulse Position Modulation (PPM) signal to control the ESC. It is suitable for all ESCs and does not inherently feature forward and reverse switching functionality.
Connection Diagram:
- Battery to Receiver: BAT+
- Receiver to ESC: VRX2, VTX2, VRX1, VTX1, GND, 5V, PPM
- Motor connected to ESC.
Receiver Pinout: BAT+, VRX2, VTX2, VRX1, VTX1, GND, 5V, PPM
PPM Dual Channel Connection Mode
This mode allows for dual ESC control, typically for dual-motor setups. It uses two PPM channels and is suitable for all ESCs without forward and reverse switching functionality.
Connection Diagram:
- Battery to Receiver: BAT+
- Receiver to ESC1: VRX2, VTX2, VRX1, VTX1, GND, 5V, PPM1
- Receiver to ESC2: VRX2, VTX2, VRX1, VTX1, GND, 5V, PPM2
- Motor connected to ESC1 and ESC2.
Receiver Pinout: BAT+, VRX2, VTX2, VRX1, VTX1, GND, 5V, PPM1, PPM2
UART Control Mode
This mode utilizes the Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) protocol for communication. It enables control and data display, supporting ESCs like VESC and FTESC. This mode supports forward and reverse switching.
Connection Diagram:
- Receiver to ESC: BAT+, VRX2, VTX2, VRX1, VTX1, GND, 5V, PPM
- ESC connections: ESC RX, ESC TX, ESC GND, ESC 5V
Receiver Pinout: BAT+, VRX2, VTX2, VRX1, VTX1, GND, 5V, PPM
ESC Connections: ESC RX, ESC TX, ESC GND, ESC 5V
